For those of you who aren't facebook friends with me, here is a video of a very loud and violent explosion from my chemistry class this morning.  One of the kids yells "Shit" at the end, so volume is somewhat NSFW.

I had a similar experience when the laboratory tech dropped a big piece of Sodium in about 5 lits of water. Needless to say, the ensuing explosion tore the beaker to pieces and we suffered a light shower of NaOH, much to the teacher's dismay.  :lol

It's a good thing you put the subtitle in parenthesis, because without it, I figured I was coming into a thread about how you just lost it and decided to gun down every student in your class.

Did this in high school.  My teacher filled a bubble up with hydrogen though, so the explosion was much less intense.

Man, so many times I wished I could've just blown away my students.  I guess I'm just too much of a wimp.  Closest I ever came, and it wasn't even that close, was my second year of teaching at this ridiculous magnet school on the east coast; I told one of my students to shut the fuck up.  I expected to find out some time in the next few days that I'd be out of a job, but incredibly, nothing ever came of it.  Seriously?  A teacher can say that to a student and get away with it?

My sixth and final year, I was back in a regular program in the crappiest school in the district, teaching math to kids who somehow got to 11th or 12th grade and couldn't add fractions.  Shit.  I could've blown away half of those ungrateful assholes and felt fine about it.  Didn't own any firearms, though.

Epic...lol, the closest to anything remotely exciting during physics that I ever witnessed was when a teacher gave an hour long demonstration of a very elaborate way of brewing..........coffee.  :blush
