as well as for their other popular recordings including "Crimson and Clover", "I Hate Myself for Loving You", "Do You Want to Touch Me", "Light of Day", "Love Is All Around", "Bad Reputation". She has three albums that have been certified Platinum or Gold, and she has been referred to as the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll" many times during her career.[3]

These are all staples of classsic rock stations
OK I recognize 3 of those songs, and those suck too! :lol
But RnR Hall Of Fame worthy?? Maybe she is. I know she has a good reputation in the industry.
What do I know?

Bad Reputation was the theme song for Freaks and Geeks!!!  That alone is hall-worthy.
Winger would be better!

Announcement from Rush on their FB page:

‎"We are honored to be among the nominees for this year's Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame. We are especially thrilled for the many, many dedicated RUSH fans to whom this nomination is so very important." – Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, Neil Peart

One of the things I absolutely LOVE about this band is their very dry sense of humor... I LOLed *so hard*....

Five dollars that Rush's nomination ends up on That Metal Show.
Perhaps you should ask bosk to reverse the "e" and "a" in the second half of your user name.

I've heard of 1 of those. In the UK she is a one hit wonder. Lita Ford probably sold more records (at a guess). I'm sure someone will prove me wrong

Maybe in the UK.  In the US and Canada, not so much.  Lita has one platinum album in the US, and one gold album in Canada.  Joan Jett has 2 platinum and 1 gold in the US, and 1 gold and 1 double-platinum in Canada.

They've spent so many years ignoring pioneers of the genre like King Crimson and letting in the ones who found commercial success like Genesis, Pink Floyd, and now Rush.  Not surprised.

I mean of course, it's because they actually get commercial success. :P

That's not even the problem, though.  Journey has had tremendous commercial success but fans have the same complaints about them being snubbed.  The whole nomination process is controlled by a few individuals that have no problem trying to skew things the way they want it.  It's just some music museum with a really bad name.

I think it will be interesting to see what happens if Deep Purple gets inducted.  (not likely...but "if")

You think Blackmore would bother showing up?  If he did, would he and the band play Smoke on the Water together?  It's my impression that Blackmore's last departure was fairly final, and the band are happier than ever the way they are now with Steve Morse.   Not sure what that will mean when/if the time comes to accept an award together.

It's not the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - it's the Jann Wenner Hall of Fame. :\

It's absolutely insane that Deep Purple and Rush aren't already in there. I voted for them plus Heart and Procol Harum.

Well, I voted for DP, Heart, and Rush. Seemed like pretty obvious choices.

It's good to see them nominated, but as others have indicated the HoF is a joke.  Hard rock and heavy metal are consistently overlooked, with only a handful of bands in there--despite the genre having been around for at least a decade longer than rap.  It is a disgrace that major bands such as Rush, Deep Purple, Kiss, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden haven't been included.  Actually, I don't believe any of the aforementioned bands have even been nominated until this year.  And someone should point out that rap is not rock.  If they're going to have a catch-all HoF that includes multiple genres, then stop calling it the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

IMO, they'll go with 2 of the 3 major rock bands:  Heart, Deep Purple and Rush.  I think Deep Purple gets in due to the sympathy vote for John Lord.  Heart will get in because they've been nominated before and not made it.  And Rush fans will continue to feel superior to the HoF--which is as it should be.

I really don't see Blackmore turning up. He's not into rock/Deep Purple anymore, and he's somewhat reclusive, so I think he'll stay well away from this if they get inducted.
But I would LOVE to see it happen. Really, really love it.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Yes is considered to be among the worst offenders of an over-the-top subgenre critics absolutely hate (which is crap, but that is the perception among many), and similar to a band like ELP, the arrogance of the band members themselves do not help at all.  Plus, neither have aged well, as opposed to a band like Rush who is aging very gracefully, so that hurts them, too.  Like it or not, I think those perceptions hurt bands like Yes and ELP.

And imagine if every past and present band member showed up to jam?!  Yes could fill up the venue. :lol

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame doesn't blah blah blah but fans still like to blah blah blah even though blah blah blah credibility blah blah blah artistic merit blah blah blah so I vote in shit like this anyway.  You know what I mean?

Yeah, I'm with Nick on this one.  I'd ask to be removed from consideration.

Public Enemy and Andy Newman are locks.  I'd bet on Kraftwerk as well.  The fact that I don't even know who Paul Butterfield is and he doesn't appear to have any sort of HOF standing,  leads me to believe that he's one of Jann Wenner's picks, so he'll get in as well.

Wenner always comes up with 4 or 5 "who the fuck?" bands that maybe 12 people have heard of. I'm starting to think he has one of those giant wheels from the Margaritaville episode of South Park with an endless supply of bands.
