I agree that the first season is a bit more of a "kids show."  Bit simplistic and not the most interesting writing in the world.  Once they reach the water nation, I think, is when the show really starts to take off, and becomes a masterpiece once Toph is introduced.

Watched the series from beginning to end this past April. Oh, what a wonderful show. Avatar gets really good midway through the second season, right around the part where they're on their way to Ba Sing Se.

Yup. That's when the show evolves to social commentary as well.

I can't say enough good things about this show. It's a masterpiece.

Honestly?  Greatest show/story ever IMO.  I've got the Fire and Water nation symbols inked on my back, and I'm naming my daughter Kitara :metal

No offense man, but....if you're gonna name your daughter after a fictional character, you should probably spell it right. :-\

Go for it though. Katara is a pretty name.

Oh I know how to spell it.  We're gonna change it to Kitara because we don't want people calling her "Kat" for short.

People are more likely to shorten a name that begins with Kat to Kat. Katie, Katrina, Katherine. I doubt people would to the same with Kitara. Plus, it'll be a little more acceptable than Toph :)

The Last Airbender is a great show, I've watched it all the way through several times. I agree, the first season is a bit "kids-show" and it's the second and third season that is really great.

Korra was pretty good too, but not as good as The Last Airbender. What made Korra great at first was Amon, that guy was just the coolest, most mysterious, most bad-ass character ever. Though how he turned out wasn't as cool as the rest of his stuff, but it was still solid stuff.

The movie sucked. I was excited and waited for almost two years and it just turned out slow, dull and just awful. Amateurish actors and awkward scripts and dialogue.

The movie was pretty good; I don't understand all the hate for it. M. Night Shyamalan did a good job.

My friend and I watched it recently to see how bad it was. We intended to watch the whole thing.

When they mispronounced Agni Kai, that was it. We couldn't continue.

I saw it at midnight.

I still remember how everyone's hopes in the fandom fell. The day before the release when the critics saw, it had a 0% on rotten tomatoes. People were desperately trying to remain optimistic, but it wasn't enough. My mind is screaming "WHY?" at every line of dialogue, every moment, every decision that was made in the movie. It's completely baffling. I just don't understand.

I kept saying I was going to make a review, but I feel like everything has already been said.

Just watched "The Avatar and the Firelord." Flawless episode. Always loved the history segments of the show, what a vast world. They could do another show in the future of things that happened before Aang and I'd still be happy.

Great episode. That's another thing M. Night completely ruined. Apparently the Avatar can't have a family? So then Zuko isn't related to Roku. So that ruins the whole fate connection that Zuko and Aang have. I don't understand???

It's like he used the Star Wars prequels as his model.

I'm not sure they'd be the best to do it since they probably haven't watched the series, but it'd be good. I'm addicted to Half in the Bag now.

And they really emphasized it too, like they wanted to rub it in peoples faces. "agni kIIIII duel"

I love the part Roku is told he's the Avatar and everone bows, even Sozin the fireprince. That is an epic moment.

When they mispronounced Agni Kai, that was it. We couldn't continue.

I saw a making of deal on Nickelodeon before its release where they interviewed the actors and M. Night Shyamalamadingdong about the movie. Points that stood out:

MNS saying:

- I'm Asian, so of course I had to change the pronunciation of some of the names to be correct. I just had to. For example, Sokka would have to be pronounced Soh-ka and Aang HAS to be pronounced AH-ng.

- I always hated how everyone needed an element present to bend it but Firebenders didn't. They could just conjure fire. So I just changed it. Now they have to hurl burning things and then bend the existing fire.

- I was so happy to find (the kid who played Aang). He's not an actor, he actually sent in his reel via the internet and I picked him without even seeing him in person!

Never before have I wanted to feed a gentleman his severed nuts so badly. (Okay, a bit hyperbolic, but you still get the idea.)

Right, But Agni Kai....It's KAI. There's no excuse. That word has meaning. You can't just change it willy nilly like the pronunciation of a name.

- I was so happy to find (the kid who played Aang). He's not an actor, he actually sent in his reel via the internet and I picked him without even seeing him in person!

If you go by that footage Noah sent in alone, he looked great for the role. He was happy, young, and he acted just like Aang. But in the movie, it's like M. Night gave him the direction to just act moody and sad most of the time.  :\

In other news Grey DeLisle got a Tumblr recently, so she and Dante Basco have exchanged some conversation in character. She asked him to "Tumblr Prom."  :lol  https://www.vocaltwit.com/4595

Wasn't the ending a little bit like LOTR? The ceremony I mean. ;)

I wasn't complaining, just noting the parallel. Great series.

You might want to note spoiler, though, for those who haven't gotten to the end.

And first season of LoK finished.  Took an episode or two to get used to the changes from Avatar, but once I did, it was fine.  Could have definitely used a full season instead of only 12 episodes.  So much more character development could (and should) have been done.  The ending was way to neat, resolving everything too quickly.  Hopefully when they move to Book 2, they'll slow things down a bit.  Still, it was an enjoyable season.
