Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Argument, the presentation of reasonable views, never makes headway against conviction, and conviction takes no part in argument because it knows.

You'd think someone that close to death's door wouldn't be dumb enough to aggressively pursue an eternity in hell since, at least based on the beliefs of someone who's a Christian as she is, that's a pretty likely place for her to end up considering she ruined someone else's property without permission and is now trying to cash in even though she got off scott-free for her little stunt.

Well I'm pretty sure you meant most of this in jest, I doubt accidentally messing up a picture of Jesus is considered a sin.

Even though technically speaking, making any picture of Jesus should be considered a sin.

Nah, perhaps she wouldn't be a shoo-in for hell based on this alone but I figure if someone's Christian by faith, then they'd be relieved to have not gotten into any trouble for (unintentionally or otherwise) defacing church property. For her to now be trying to cash in on this seems a little sacrilegious to me and I'm VERY liberal when it comes to stuff pertaining to faith.

As was stated in the article, the church has seen a huge spike in traffic, and therefore donations.  It's her work that brought about that increase.  While it does seem like the tasteful thing to do would be to let the church keep the money, since you did fuck up their property and all, it's hard to not see that she does have a point.

It's also possible that they could still be well within the statute of limitations to press charges against her for doing so. I'm not saying it's the thing to do but if she wants to take advantage of the fact that she got away with something that likely would've resulted in prosecution had it been done by some "teenage punk", then she shouldn't be such a greedy bitch about it by trying to get in while the gettin's good.

Her original intent was to "restore" the painting. She obviously knew that she wouldn't be compensated for it. Yet now that she failed miserably at doing something she had no intention of being paid for in the first place, she's got some kind of ludicrous notion that she's entitled to compensation?

The article sums it up pretty well:
Quote
The idea of claiming destruction as a form of creation is interesting (and a bit mind-boggling), but I think the truth is likely a lot simpler: greed, capitalizing on a spot of big, blind luck. A bit sad, but not terribly surprising.
