Thanks To the band for a wonderful Australian visit, Both nights in Melbourne were fantastic, also the meet and greet with Mike being the most outgoing person as we chatted about RUSH, to his surprise the fact that they have never been here, I did ask if he would kindly pass on the request. Still do not know thou if JM can actually speak.

It's obvious that DT are burned out. Look at the set lists for Australia, not much different than the 90 min Prog Nation, pretty much rotating the same songs around with a few differences.

However, DT have been plowing through this decade non-stop, I mean 6 studio albums, and tours ever year is just sick in this day and age. It's time for a break - and a well derserved one. And we are still getting a new DT instrumental!!!

They have had major accomplishments, that no band with the level of complex prog/rock/metal music and pretty much zero radio or video support has really ever attained.

DT deserves a long break. I would say just take all of 2010 off. Maybe 2011 as well.

Early 2012, start writing for the next album. Take your time. Break the formula of the past several albums (long opener, ballad, 'hit', long songs, and closing with an epic). Break that mold. Throw it away.

In other words: PROGRESS.

Take most of 2012 to work on this, release in late 2012 or early 2013 and hit the road again in 2013. It will be fresh, the fans will be hungry.

That's right, I'm recommending 3 years off the road for DT. People won't forget them.

So what are the chances of a South American tour? I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned by MP.

What do the set lists in Australia have to do with being "burned out?"  I don't think you know what you are talking about.

I don't agree that they're 'burned out', but I am surprised they didn't add a couple of different songs to the mix in Australia.

I'm mainly surprised by the lack of surprise in Melborne.

Now that it's over, I think the thing that surprises me more than anything is that there was not a single Japanese show, that's weird.

I think that's a risky move. Not just that people will get into other bands in the meantime and lose the will to watch DT again (believe me, I know how it is to forget about a band because it took a long break), but DT will have to dig deep down and realize how to make progressive metal in their own style.

You mean like they've been for the last 20+ years?

Well, I don't know if Mladen meant this, but I think that DT's work from 1989-2002 was very unique, and their "own style"; something I have a hard time comparing to other bands.  Since then, I feel they've tended to drift more sound-wise to one side or the other regarding their influences.  Personally, it's a lot easier for me to point to a song on the last couple of albums and say "that sounds like band x" than it is for the first 6.

Yeah looks like it.

I wonder if we'll see the debut of the new instrumental at any of these shows.

I know I'm a little late to the best setlist of the tour party but I just wanted to say that idk what the best setlist of the tour was, but the best moment of the show I went to was in TCOT. That final minute with the crowd singing along to the "whoaaaaa"s and the animation on the screen, it was perfect. Easily one of the best moments of any concert I've ever been to.

The entire outro section of TCOT was amazing live. I actually got chills when the acoustic guitar part kicked in. Was a definite highlight of the two DT shows I've been to.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Agreed. JP was in total domination mode at the Adelaide concert. Everyone around me were going nuts for that part. The atmosphere and feeling was fantastic.

Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?
LOOK AT THIS AWESOME SHIT AHHHHHH
