Scenes From A Memory night. Good setlist. Would that be the most amount of songs they have played this tour for a set?

Is it really that long? A good number of those songs aren't as long as many others which have been played this tour.

Despite being a lame studio song, it is a lot of fun live.

My iTunes tells me 1:31 on the dot, so not really longer than the average set, no.

Well then, I actually saw two shows that were 10 minutes longer than that, even though that set had the most tracks played.

You saw flawless Voices and Metropolis and Tuscany and PoW (where James messed up) was the stand out?

It's a really fun song live. The others are far superior songs, but they're simply not FUN like PoW is.

Does anyone else think it would be a better setlist move to switch The Count of Tuscany, now usually in the encore spot, with the song right before it, which is usually something like ITNOG, As I Am, or Take the Time, so that the older songs would be the encore?  I think part of what made my first DT concert so memorable was that Metropolis was the encore, and to see a classic DT song like that in the last spot was amazing.  TCOT's good, don't get me wrong, but I think an encore song should be something loved from the back catalogue.

Sky, I don't disagree with what you are saying, but if you were lucky enough to get ITNOG & TCOT in one show, it wouldn't matter what order they were played in.

DT has done this before, right, using ITNOG as the last song on most of the TOT tour.

in maryland, we got the return of ITNOG, and the encore of TCOT, and they worked really really well in their positions.  ITNOG is a fantastic song, but the encore of TCOT, particularly the end where everyone is singing, is a much better way to close the show.

I think that certain songs should be expected, such as ANtR, RoP, and TCoT, but I think it's best when the encore is a surprise.  My suggestion would be to keep ANtR and RoP as the top two, TCoT as the closer, and have the encore best something that changes frequently, instead of having a set encore.

It was best in 2005, when ITNOG was the closer for the first set in London. Then TSCO and LtL for the encore.

I've seen them both as closer and I've got to say that I think Metropolis left me with a better feeling at the end. Tuscany is great but it's best to end with a song that EVERYONE loves if you can. I'm sure 95% of DT fans love TCoT but everyone seems to think Metropolis is amazing.

I like having TCOT is the encore if just for the fact it's unexpected. It's so common to have the old favourite as the encore, but it's cool seeing them break the tradition and do something different.

Yes, that's true, they do break the tradition.  However, my point is that while it was unexpected at the beginning of PN09, it has become routine and predictable, save for a few shows that had other encores.  I think an encore historically is something that is supposed to be a surprise, not something that should be expected.  It would be interesting to see them mix it up more often.

Well the encore has not been a surprise for any band for a long time, because it's now obligatory rather than a true surprise.
Many bands play the same encore song, so I have no problem with them using the same song every show, I just think it's just cool that they're not following the standard, and it's also good to see them have so much faith in their newer material.

Well they've played multiple songs as the encore, but I assume you mean play an encore, leave the stage, then come back again for a second encore? Not sure that they've ever done that, but hopefully someone can give a conclusive answer on that.
