It's 100% up to Dream Theater.

Even if they cut back on the number of openers people have to start to realize that Dream Theater will NOT go back to evening with tours until they feel up to it again.

1. A Nightmare to Remember
2. A Rite of Passage
3. Sacrificed Sons
4. The Dance of Eternity
5. One Last Time
6. Solitary Shell
7. In the Name of God
--------------------------
8. The Count of Tuscany
Change SS with Prophets of war, and this is as close to perfection as it gets. I still miss Metropolis, though...

Sacrificed Sons! there was a chance I go to the Chicago show and I was upset I couldn't, now I know it was for my own good hehe

The Chicago set was the best one so far (unless you count Nick's show with PoW). The only way it could have been better was if they played another 30 minutes to an hour more.

cramx3

The Maryland show was still the best since it was the same setlist as Chicago PLUS PoW.  That is such a great set for this tour IMO.

Been reading the past several days worth of posts, and it seems that some people aren't happy unless they have something to bitch about.
Quote from: BlobVanDam on December 11, 2014, 08:19:46 PMHef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

You've just successfully described about 1/3 of all mankind.

I'm hoping Los Angeles gets both Prophets of War and Hollow Years (demo version) mixed into our show.  The other interchangable songs in the rotation are not as especially special.

I hope it's a special show since it's the last one on this leg.  Also LA is a major city so that boosts its chances.  12-step suite, possibly?

If not then I hope we get Erotomania, Voices, Hollow Years, and Metropolis.

Is anyone posting from Denver tonight?

A Rite Of Passage
Hollow Years (extended demo version)
Keyboard solo
Erotomania
Voices
Forsaken
Sacrificed Sons
----------
Encore: The Count Of Tuscany

Nice setlist.  Swap Forsaken for Solitary Shell, Sacrificed Sons for The Count of Tuscany, and make Metropolis the encore, and it would be perfect.

So great to see ITNOG !! Sad not to see Metropolis.

Great to see SSons, sad not to see Voices.

I am Meh about seeing Rite of Passage and Sshell, how are these live anyone?

ANTR,TDOE,OLT and TCOT are the Nuts!

kefka

AROP actually holds up very well live.

solitary shell is amazing live, especially if (and by all accounts, have been regularly) they jam it out.

A one-off cover would be a nice way to give LA its due respect.

AA-suite is NOT happening this time 'round.  Erotomania and Voices were played on last Prog Nation tour, so probably will not make the cut.

SilentFox

Sorry, but what do you mean by a "one-off cover"?  I'm a little confused...do you mean a one off-cover?  As in, a bootleg song?

EDIT: Also, do you have any solid evidence they won't play the 12-step suite?  It would seem to me that the setlist length is the perfect time for A Nightmare to Remember to open, then the 12-step suite, with TCoT or Metropolis as an encore.

BlobVanDam

They wouldn't dedicate a whole PN show to the 12 step suite. It's too much new material that's not on the setlists to learn for a one off show, and they wouldn't want a setlist that limited.

ariich

A one-off cover means a cover song that they just play as a one-off (e.g. the Rush song they played in Toronto)

the evidence is in the history of the band, study it, love it.

Leaving for DT now! I'll come back with a full review tomorrow or something like that.

Very good show, I'll have clips up on YouTube this weekend if I have a chance.  ZPZ was very good as well.

Really good set.  How was the sound?  I generally hate that venue, soundwise.  What did your dad think of the show?

I was there, it was a perfect vocal performance by James.

Sound wise there were some spots where the guitar was a lil drowned out or vocals at various places but man, this being my first Rock concert, me and my brother were floored.

It was electric , they were on fire, they played from their F%#king hearts!

Sound was really good.  We were on the balcony on JP's side of the stage in the top row, but we moved to the edge of the balcony since no one was there, and we were able to stay there the whole time.  Excellent vantage point for pictures and video, as you'll see later when I post them.

My dad loved it.  He would have preferred knowing more of the songs (his fault though) but he had a great time.

I really like the setlist, although I probably would have preferred Metropolis instead of ITNOG, but I still like that song.

JP is human.  During the last high pitched volume swell right before he goes into the "This is the end" theme, the rest of the strings on the guitar decided to swell too, and he had to redo it.  Everyone was still on the top of their game, however.  James struggle a couple times on the high notes on ITNOG, but he has improved dramatically since I first saw them on the TOT tour.  He may be off a note here or there, but it's much better than being consistently flat like he used to be.  Very good show.   :metal

bosk1

On balance, I rank Metropolis higher than ITNOG.  However, between live releases and actual shows, I've seen it so many times, in so many different versions that my preference of the two at a show would actually be ITNOG.
