I just saw a video of PoW live.

......when did DT start using backing tracks?

This is the first time, was a little surprising when I saw it for sure.

But it's not like the members aren't doing something, it would be tough for MP to play the drum part and pull those lines off live.

I think MP's explanation is fair, but I disagree with the fact that he couldn't do the original version justice. They're very angry verses, it's not like he needs to be delicate with his phrasing or anything.

What the hell was so special about the NYC show?
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

Uh, this might be kinda odd...
I have a friend who said he went to the Asheville, NC show...
He says the band played TBOT... the setlist doesn't show that, though.
Other details of the show, according to him:
BTBAM subbed for Scale the Summit
Mike Portnoy had an epic drum solo during Erotomania after Petrucci's guitar malfunctioned
Petrucci and Rudess and a guitar/keytar duel during Metropolis

He says that Portnoy started crying halfway through TBOT and had to leave the stage.

I think the part about the drum solo in Erotomania was partly true. It was a rather short improvision because the guitar did go down for a short amount of time.

In Asheville?  They definitely didn't play TBOT, but JP's rig DID fail during Erotomania so Mike did a drum solo before they all launched back into the Silent Man theme.

EDIT: Also, no Mirror, and no BTBAM

Were you there ? I was, and besides Forsaken, it was a damn good set. JLB was on fire (as usual) and during Erotomania, they took a break and when they were about to start again Mike faked to play, so JMX was the only one playing (he played like 3 notes) and he actually SMILED !!! That was awesome.

Really?  I mean, if they replaced RoP, PoW, and AiA with Metropolis, Erotomania, and Voices, it would be a perfect setlist IMO.

9. The Count of Tuscany
This has to be one of the weakest setlist of the tour so far.
Really?  I mean, if they replaced RoP, PoW, and AiA with Metropolis, Erotomania, and Voices, it would be a perfect setlist IMO.
That's pretty much what I said...
Jesus Christ himself* comes down amidst a choir of 2 billion angels singing Handel's Hallelujah chorus. As KrotchRaut shred randomly on guitars made of dragon bones using picks made from God's kidney stones, Jesus heals a blind woman who promptly gives birth onstage to a creation of pure light.

*Yes, Jesus Christ himself. Nothing less will do.

I just want ITNOG instead of "As I Am" and that would be PERFECT!

Nope, that's not anywhere close to what you said.
