Yeah, I would have even sacrificed These colors don't run and No more lies for the magnificent Sign of the cross, but what can you do...

Sign of the Cross always needs more love.

Though it had a few good songs, the Blaze era can forever be forgotten and I will be happy.

For anyone who hasn't seen, this is Iron Maiden's set:

The Wicker Man
Ghost Of The Navigator
Brighter Than A Thousand Suns
El Dorado
Paschendale
The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg
These Colours Don't Run
Blood Brothers
Wildest Dreams
No More Lies
Brave New World
Fear Of The Dark
Iron Maiden

The Number of the Beast
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Running Free

The significant lack of 80s Maiden makes me  :sadpanda:  Nothing from Piece of Mind, Powerslave, Somewhere in Time or 7th Son???

I hear ya. Drop the last five tracks (Fear of the Dork onward) and put some stuff from SiT and SSoaSS that they should've played on the last tour! Do gotta say that it's cool that they're not going the nostalgia route and only playing one or two tracks from the new one, and nothing but old classics. That said, they need to drop those last 5 for several years and play some of the older more obscure tracks that are just as good if not better.
As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

It might look bad on paper.  In practice, it was great.

You must keep in mind that they are playing in front of an Iron Maiden crowd. Therefore, they play songs that might please Iron Maiden's audience.

If that's what they played, they played for 60 minutes. I doubt that they played Home.

I don't doubt it. While I never got confirmation, I believe that Home was the song that was the missing track in my setlist guesses.

Now that the first show is over and nothing else has been posted by anyone who was at the show, I will post what I believe was played tonight (barring Home, which may very well be incorrect and the song order may be incorrect):

As I Am
Panic Attack
A Rite of Passage
Home
Constant Motion
Pull Me Under

Those 6 songs add up to 52.6 minutes in iTunes, and with a little tightening up/editing, I'm sure they could get it down to 50 minutes.

I got 5 out of 6!! Would've never guessed that Home would've been played. Seems kind of long for such a short set time. Plus I'm not a fan, and I don't feel that it does a great job of highlighting the band, except for the very end. But I know I'm in the minority.

Yeah I got 5 out of 6 as well.
Drowned in Sound
Echoes & Dust

Yeah, actually that solo was pretty good.  I was pleasantly surprised.  There was also a riffer solo in there.

I'm just glad they aren't wasting time throwing in a 7 minute keyboard solo in the middle of their set this time. God I almost killed myself during that at the CiM tour.

Yeah I hope they get rid of that keyboard solo thing. The L@B one was amazing, but the CIM one is just bad.

DT setlist pretty much as expected, great to see Home in it though. :tup

Maiden setlist is awesome! I'm really glad they're focussing more on the newer era stuff rather than turning into a Maiden tribute band, which a couple of tours ago they looked in danger of doing.

Yeah, I'm pleasantly surprised with Maiden's set. As much as I would love some classics on my first Maiden, the 2000's era stuff will be cool to see.

DT's is not overly expected, though Home certainly came out of left-field. Looking forward to it. Only As I Am and AROP were played at my last show, so the others will be cool to see. Although if the rotational setlist policy is in effect for this tour, then the next few shows will open up the song possibilities a bit more.

We'll see a lot more songs for the headlining shows!!! I'd be perfecting happy with the current setlist plus 5 or 6 more songs they have been playing over the last tour. Can't wait for July 2nd in Columbus!  :metal

You know, after looking through the Maiden set list once again, I have to say that's it a very solid one. Blood Brothers is meh, and I need to be in the mood for No More Lies, but the rest is all good stuff.

Powerslave got 4 songs last tour, Seventh Son will get time to shine next tour.  I'm glad they went back and revisited the post-2000 catalogue, as I was very afraid many songs would not see the light of day again.

Same here brudda. I thought I had missed my chance to see Paschendale.

Understatement.  That's a pretty full shed for an opening band.  And from the quick pan out to the lawn,  it looked like there were plenty of people out there.  Maiden generally seems to attract a more loyal following, so that helps.

Houston will be a better crowd tonight.  Which is exactly where I'm off to.   :metal

Just to clarify, the setlists will NOT change for the shows they open for Maiden. However, I'm sure there will be SOME setlist variation between each of the club shows.

I'm just curious because the Ottawa Bluesfest slot they have is about 2 hours or so. 50 mins for set + 25 mins for break between the two bands leaves a lot of room...but nothing has been said about that show being an extended set.

Rockin' DT set right there. I think the setlist is good for the audience they're playing to, which is a metal audience. How was the crowd reacting to DT? Was there lots of movement, pits, and that sort of stuff that a Maiden crowd is known for? Or did they save that for Maiden?

And I like the Maiden set too. They've toured enough with their older stuff, it's about damn time they stopped playing all old songs and focused a tour on their latest stuff. I was scared they'd become into a nostalgia act. i'd have liked to seen The Trooper in that setlist, a Maiden setlist doesn't look right without that song.

What kind of merch did DT have? Any official bootlegs? Anything different than on the PN tour?
