I don't know . . . a list of the 10 or 20 favorite albums from before 2000 is kind of a no-brainer, I wouldn't put anything released this millenium in my top 200 albums except SDOIT and ADTOE. I mean seriously, EVERYTHING released by EVERY great rock band in history came before 2000. 99.9% of the greatest metal albums came before 2000. You may want to re-phrase the question as "before 1990" or "before 1980". Just my opinion; probably shared by any other member over the age of 30.

Go to a KISS concert once. I made the mistake of doing so 4 years ago.

Thanks. It's hard to pick just 10 or 20 albums but these could be my "ultimate" top 10.

While I can understand the sentiment, in YOUR opinion the only good releases after 1/1/2000 were Six Degrees and Dramatic.  In MY opinion, that list leaves off a LOT of the 2000 and beyond releases that I think are awesome - Fear of a Blank Planet, Deadwing, Blackwater Park, Burning Sosobra, Alter, Ghost Reveries, Watershed, Clockwork Angels, Deloused in the Comatorium, Lateralus, With Teeth, Year Zero, Degradation Trip Volumes 1 and 2, ... I could go on and on.  To me, music is not flatly defined as the year it was released.  It's a fun way to spark up conversations, I'll admit that. :)   All I'm saying is that there are excellent albums that were released in 2000 and beyond besides DT's.

Agreed. I have a heavy bias toward pre-1996 music myself since 1995 (when I was 14) was the last year I could enjoy the radio to any decent extent rather than barely liking much of it and convincing myself it was just a rough stretch for top 40 and thinking things would eventually get better. That established, the way I kept my interest in music was through discovering bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Death, DT, Opeth, and many far less known bands.

Many of these bands were way established and released 5 or more albums before 2000 so as it stands I'm in a very similar position to you, Dream Team, but I also realize that there are shitloads of bands out there that I've yet to discover or simply won't at all since there isn't nearly enough time in one's life to discover all that's out there. With this untapped bounty awaiting you, it'd be cheating yourself of the pleasure of an unknown amount of listening enjoyment if you simply shun post-2000 music.

I recommend just going to youtube and pulling up a video for a band you like and keep checking out bands you aren't yet familiar with in the related videos section on the right side of the screen (regardless of the year released) and see where it takes you. You may be pleasantly surprised :)
