Jazz by Joseph Göbbels
« on: September 03, 2012, 09:56:24 AM »
This is firmly lodged in the "WTF" files. This is a Jazz ensemble assembled by Joseph Göbbels during the war, with the music broadcast to the UK in order to demoralize them. The irony is that Jazz was outlawed in those days as "n---er music", and even more bizarrely there was a Jew on the ensemble.

"let's shell churches, women, children too"

from wiki:

After the war the musicians reorganized under Fritz Brocksieper with the band name "Brocksieper Freddie", but were still recognized as "Goebbels' band". They played at US Armed Forces clubs in Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg.

Anecdotal accounts indicate that British Prime Minister Winston Churchill enjoyed the broadcasts, finding the lyrics hilarious.

So weird to hear that music with those lyrics.
