Battle of the Concept Albums Vol. 6: The Lamb vs The Wall
« on: August 21, 2012, 12:31:49 PM »
The 6th battle, this is tough, as I love both albums to death, but while I have grown to love The Lamb over the years way more than I did at first, I cannot overlook how important The Wall was to me as a music fan.  So, The Wall gets the nod from me.

I love both, but The Lamb is something which I find really special. It's just very different, and I will admit that I'm swayed by the live release (in one of the Live Archives) so in purely studio, probably The Wall would win, but The Lamb translates better for a live release for me.
This is as exciting as superluminal neutrinos. The sexy thing is that this actually exists :D

The Lamb, all the way. I'm a big PF fan but The Wall has its ups and downs. Many classic songs on it, but also a couple which I don't really care for. Sure, that can be said about The Lamb, but overall I find it to have more great songs.

The Wall. Lamb is an awesome album, but The Wall is very, very high on my list, almost at the top.

OMG, Kev... REALLY?  REALLY?!  You skfksfjkshfjsdjkfjdsh  ;)

Jeeze... I don't think I can vote.  The Wall was SUCH an important album to me growing up, but then again so was The Lamb too.

Nope - can't vote.

TOUGH.... I went with the Lamb - it's a bit longer (which, stereotypically of me/progfans), and it's got some great moments and songs.

The Wall is nice, but I don't listen to it often, but The Lamb is just awesome top-to-bottom.

The Wall. It's amazing. It's my favorite album, actually.

The Wall.  It redefined what a Concept album is, could and should be. Name me one concept album done after it where the band/writer didn't cite it as an influence. There won't be many (if any).

While I like Genesis better than Pink Floyd, Lamb's actually fairly low on my list for them, while The Wall...it's the fucking WALL, man.  :hefdaddy

I really really love The Lamb...

But I have to agree...The Wall is THE WALL.    I remember when I was 18, I did nothing but listen to The Wall on an endless loop for 6 months straight.   The Lamb has a neat story...but The Wall has emotions I can identify with, and that's why I think The Wall has touched so many lives.

...and now me thanks to this, thanks! The Archive live version sounds incredible, considering the studio version sound mediocre at best IMO, which hurts the album. Too bad Gabriel was an ass and poo-pooed a reunion; a modern live recording live with Hackett reaaranging his parts and being a bigger presence would own.

The Walls huge mainstream impact detracts from it IMO compared to the Lamb. The concept is great, and music. But it is easier to digest than the Lamb. Both albums are about the writers lives, but the Lamb gets really abstract.
