Good god damn FTL is great. I just played a round that basically felt like a video game version of '33' (the BSG episode). Easily one of the most memorable gaming experiences I've had in the last year.

Dragon age 3 just got announced. I hope it's more like the epic first and less like the sucky second.

Borderlands 2 has really piqued my interest, even though I never played the first one.

I played Borderlands as part of a dedicated trio and I thought the game was a snooze fest. It didn't seem to scale with players very well, we tore through most of the game without much challenge. The people I was playing with enjoyed themselves, though, so I preordered the second one. Hopefully it ends up being more interesting (looked at the skill tree calculator they released and the girl that focuses on control looks like she could be fun).

Borderlands 2 is very much the same as the first one. The more noticeable differences are the varied environments, and the fact that it seems to be a lot tougher. My buddy and I have died numerous times in the three hours we've played. Also, getting a second wind can sometimes be harder, as improved AI means enemies will duck into cover, often leaving you with no one to kill. That being said, we've been waiting for this game for years and we're enjoying the hell out of it.

I'm enjoying the shit out of Borderlands 2. I've got a Siren and Ninja each up to lv 8...trying to decide which one I wanna play with my friends.

You must be right about where we are. We've finished all the side quests and we're about to head to Sanctuary. I'm loving the ninja skill. Going melee all the way.

Among others, I've noticed references to Leroy Jenkins, the "yo dawg" meme, Full Metal Jacket, and Firefly. Well... Serenity, to be more specific. Also, we came across an outhouse that said "no fapping" on the outside. Good stuff.

Sounds like an awesome game, however, I don't have the money.

Yeah, I haven't been able to put much time into Borderlands 2 yet but it seems like the game is going to be harder than the first. Normally I'm not very picky about my games were being hard, but the game honestly was boring me to the point of almost falling asleep when playing with other people.

In other news, Runic made the Torchlight 2 soundtrack available for free. Matt Uelmen does the music for the Torchlight series, so anyone who's a fan of the soundtracks to Diablo 1 and 2 should give it a look (I haven't listened to the new one yet, but Torchlight 1 sounded very reminiscent of Diablo 2.)

Just finished Spec Ops: The Line, definitely the best writing in a game I played this year, it's got Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now vibes to it. It definitely is flawed, the gameplay is standard CoD/Gears of War fare, but in one scene, it lampoons how glorified killing is in most modern games. Awesome stuff.

Now on to Dark Souls  ;D

Sony announced the Playstation 3 Super Slim today.

Quote
To sweeten the deal, and likely entice a few upgrades, Sony has also announced that it will be offering a limited edition bundle of the 250GB machine that includes Uncharted 3: GOTY and $30 worth of DUST 514 content. Apparently that equates to $70 of value in a pack that costs $269.99. The 500GB console will be getting a $299 limited edition, which includes Assassin’s Creed 3 and 30 days of PlayStation Plus membership.

They won't do it, not with how common releasing PSX/PS2 "classics" through the PS Store and the "HD remakes/collections" have become.

Origin is doing a big sale on the Battlefield series for the anniversary; all of the games are down to $10 now. Although there seems to be an issue at the moment; once I got to the checkout the discount price wasn't being applied to BF3.

I stopped playing DE:HR because the controls feel like they were for a game made 10 years ago! (in before lolconsoles)

Whatever happened to allowing me to fully customize the controller buttons?!

Just wait 'til the end.

Kidding, sort of. It is a fun game, and the ending is not as bad as I hear Mass Effect 3 is.

I'm finding Torchlight 2 rather disappointing.  I don't think any of the classes are particularly fun, and I think the outdoor level design is really, really dull.

Sad but true. That's part of why I didn't buy a Vita too. They expect you to rebuy all your PSP titles in the store. Even at a discounted price, I'm not double-dipping for shit unless it's at least two or more consoles ago.

Just got FTL, between this game and Dark Souls, I hope I can keep sane enough to still download and play Black Mesa Source after. I was kicking ass in normal in Sector 6 and everything was suddenly aflame in like 15 seconds. F my life  :'(

FUCK Caustic Caverns. 2000 enemies and 500 bullets is not my idea of a fun area.
