I set the auction league draft for 10:15 EST on next Saturday, so it's an 75 minutes after Splent's league starts (in case you are in both leagues).

Splent and bosk1, you forgot to assign keepers, but I can still assign one for you.  I'm guessing you want to keep Aaron Rodgers Splent, bosk...your's isn't so obvious to me.

Yeah I just posted :lol I didn't know how to assign keepers, and once I figured it out it was past the deadline.

And you assume correctly.

Right now I only have 6 people in my league.  This league will suck majorly if I don't get some more people.  The three who haven't responded are hef, axeman, and crimson (who may not be able to participate).

Again, if ANYONE wants in to the league, LET ME KNOW so I can invite you!!!  Please!!!

Actually, it was scheduled for 10:15.  But since Splent moved his up an hour, I moved mine up an hour, so the auction is now scheduled to start at 9:15pm Saturday.

I got done with the draft of my long-time keeper league... A.J. Green, Brandon Lloyd, Calvin Johnson, no one will beat me on the WR/Flex players!

Oh well.

I have to move my draft to Sunday if it is ok.  We have a friend who is moving out of town after the weekend and we are seeing her tomorrow for what may be te last time in a while. She and her husband are my daughters godparents do that takes priority.

EDIT:  The latest time to draft on Sunday (that's not insanely late) is 5:45pm Central.  The other option is making the time later tomorrow, like 9:30 central.  I still may not be home at that point.  So I don't know.  Unless you want to do it in the middle of the day on Monday.

oh yeah...Monday is a holiday.  Forgot about that.  I'm fine with whatever, but I guess my preference isn't for 10:30 Eastern Saturday night.

I'm just afraid of moving the auction league draft time since its such short notice, and IIRC Monday and Tuesday weren't good nights for some people.

I have no idea why keepers weren't kept.  I am pretty sure I hit the finalize keepers button.  I've had a fever, sore throat, and headache all day and just forgot about the drafts and took a nap.  My auction league team blows donkey balls, but I guess I deserve that.  I do sincerely apologize to everyone for screwing up the keepers.

I need neutral ground.

I just joined a friend's fantasy league (as an expansion)...and I was hoping you guys would give me a second opinion on my depth chart that I've created for my draft tonight.

It's a keeper league, so the two expansion teams (myself and one other) were given a list of "keepers" we could choose from everyone else's throw away's.   I took Jimmy Graham and the other expansion player took BenJarvis Green-Ellis.  (I thought having a top end TE can be a nice anchor).    But I lost the coin toss, so I'm picking second.

The keeper players are as follows:

BenJarvis Green-Ellis
Jimmy Graham
Calvin Johnson
Cam Newton
Phillip Rivers
Peyton Manning
Matt Ryan
Ray Rice
Arian Foster
Tom Brady
Aaron Rodgers
Drew Brees

I pick second, and then we "snake" our way through the draft.  (Round 1 is 1-12, round 2 is 12-1...etc...).   That means that I will have a LONG ways to my second pick...but 2 and 3 will be very close together.    It is a PPR league.

Here is my depth chart:

QB

1. Matthew Stafford
2. Michael Vick
3. Robert Griffin III
4. Eli Manning
5. Joe Flacco
6. Matt Ryan
7. Carson Palmer
8. Tony Romo
9. Alex Smith
10. Andrew Luck

I realize that RG3 is listed very high...but as you will see, I think I'm going to be going after RB's and WR's first.   That means that my QB may have to be a "dark horse" play, and for that role and think RG3 is a good fit.   But I do have concerns.   Since I have the second pick, the chances of Stafford being available are strong, since I've heard rumor that the first guy is going to take Vick.

RB's

1. LaSean McCoy
2. Adrian Peterson
3. Darrin McFaddin
4. Chris Johnson
5. Marshawn Lynch
6. Steven Jackson
7. MJD
8. DeMarco Murray
9. Darrin Sproles
10. Reggie Bush

I'm leaning towards taking LaSean McCoy as my first pick.  That would lead to the "dark horse" scenario at QB that I mentioned earlier.  2-4 are a toss up.  I actually like Darrin McFaddin the best because both AP and CJ are recovering from injuries...and there is speculation that AP will never be the same.  I think Darrin is going to be *da man* this year.

WR

1. Larry Fitzgerald
2. Greg Jennings
3. AJ Green
4. Julio Jones
5. Wes Welker
6. Hakeem Nicks
7. Brandon Lloyd
8. Marques Colston
9. Brandon Marshall
10. Dez Bryant.

I honestly believe that the top 2 will be gone by the time I get to my WR's....so I'm eyeballing AJ Green big time.  I'm also going to be keeping a *CLOSE* eye on both Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker (Peyton Manning's new targets in Denver) in later rounds.

Should I go deeper than a top 10?   This is my third league in 3 years.   I won the Super Bowl in my first two years...but I was playing with people who didn't know what they were doing.   This is my first year in a league with people who *actually* watch their teams closely and play every single week.    And it looks like I'll be sticking around.

I figure that if I can take LaSean first as my RB...then a LONG wait before I get to my second round pick which would be a top WR...then I might be able to pick up RG3 in the third.    If I take Stafford as my QB first...then I would most likely have to take a high end WR in my second round and take my chances on some lower end RB's in my third.    There *are not* alot of strong RB's this year...I can't think of a single RB that doesn't have concerns coming into this season...which makes LaSean McCoy *that much more valuable*....and a strong argument for taking him first.

Any suggestions?   If I'm hijacking, I'll take a PM.   Thanks.

Reggie Bush in your top 10 and no Fred Jackson?

Dez Bryant in your top 10 and no Roddy White?

Yowza.

Fred Jackson is 31 and coming off a broken fibula and will share touches with Spiller.    Reggie is starting to settle in as a receiving back in Miami.  In a PPR league, a receiving halfback like Reggie (very much like Sproles in NO) is going to be a bigger asset.   That is...IMO.    You're right that Fred Jackson could be a contender for the lower half of the top 10...but I was specifically looking to have some receiving backs in there.

Again....IMO....Roddy White is going to be overshadowed by Julio this year.   Mark my words.  That's why Julio *IS* in my top 10, and Roddy isn't.    I believe that as Julio emerges, Roddy's role will decrease.    But if there is enough to go around in Atlanta (and there may be) then I'm wrong.   I chose the Atlanta WR that I think will make the bigger splash.

You guys aren't looking at my #1 problem.

I pick 2nd, then *23rd*, then 26th!!

So the *biggest* question is....Matthew Stafford and hope for a dark horse RB....or LaSean McCoy and hope for a dark horse QB???

And yes...I think Reggie Bush is a good play.   Did you guys see him last season in Miami?   Who would've thought that his very first 1,000 yd rushing year would happen in his sixth season, and where was this guy in '06?   Reggie blew it up last year...he's a great receiver, and I think he's going to repeat.

None of you have a personal "dark horse" in your top 10?   You do exactly what the experts tell you?

I'm a little surprised.   It's not like I put him at #1 or anything.   He's a deep pick.   Remember that by the time I get to my #4 pick there may be not much left....so my top 10 also reflects who might actually be around by then.

I'm actually sitting here laughing right now just because I came here for advice on my first 2 or 3 picks, and people are getting hung up on who I might take in the 6th or 7th.

BTW....Stafford went #1 so I *had* to go with LeSean in the first round.   Got Greg Jennings in the 2nd and Eli Manning in the 3rd.

Ended up getting RG3 in the 7th round.   I wanted to get Reggie Bush in the 5th, but he went to someone else in the 4th.

Spiller will get touches, but Jackson will still be the main man in Buffalo.  Jackson is an absolute beast when it comes to pass blocking, so that will keep him on the field way more than Spiller.  In short, as long as Jackson is healthy, he is the man in Buffalo.  Spiller will get touches, but it is not a RBBC.

Also, Jackson was as much of a pass catcher last year as Bush was (moreso actually, if you look at games played), and that will not change.  Plus, Bush plays in an offense that is likely to be putrid, while the Bills offense should be good.  Jackson is going higher in most drafts and for more in auctions for a reason.

As for Roddy and Jones, I expect both to be great, but Roddy White has been one of the most reliable WRs in the NFL the last five years (at least 83 catches and 1,150 yards every season), and that shouldn't change at all this year.  If anything, Jones presence as a legit deep threat will open things underneath for White even more.

Also, to address personal rankings, mine are never like those of the supposed "experts," but it is important to pay some attention to them so you can get an idea of where that player is generally going in drafts or how much he is going for in auctions, that way you could proper value for the player.  For example, in an auction, if a RB most experts have around 20 is someone you have around 10, you shouldn't have to pay RB10 price.  The best teams are usually the ones who not only get the players who consistently score the most, but the teams who get good value for their picks.  To toot my own horn, I had Arian Foster in my top 5 RBs two years ago heading into our big draft that year, but he was still below the radar, and I was able to get him in the 4th round, instead of "reaching" for him too early.  On the flip side, DeMarco Murray is an example of someone I feel is overvalued this year, so he isn't on any of my teams, simply because everyone was paying more than I thought he was worth in every auction I did, and I was not gonna overpay for a player I like, but am not convinced will live up to the hype.

In the case of Roddy White, he is a "boring" player.  Not flashy at all, but always puts up great numbers, and yet is overlooked every year, including this year.

I ended up getting Spiller very late.   But it after it was done, I realized my bench had NO backup WR's or TE's.   Very, VERY poor planning on my part.

No one really had a WR to trade, so I was forced to drop him and pick up Nate Burleson off waivers.     It was just a stupid, stupid mistake that I'm still kicking myself over.

My final lineup....

QB: Eli Manning
RB1: LeSean McCoy
RB2: Fred Jackson
WR1: Greg Jennings
WR2: Demariyus Thomas
TE: Jimmy Graham
W/T: Nate Burleson
K: Matt Prater
Def/ST: Houston

Bench:
RG3
Beanie Wells
Martellus Bennett
Robert Turbin
Atlanta Def/ST

I'm happy with my starters....but not as thrilled with my bench.   I should have done deeper research into the lower rung players around the league.

EDIT:  BTW... I took Fred Jackson by mistake...time was running out and I went to put STEVE Jackson on my queue....grabbed the wrong Jackson, and the draft auto-picked Fred before I could correct it.  My commish says it won't make too much of a difference in points, but I don't believe him.

Well, you actually have a backup TE... should've drafted a bench WR instead of a second defense, or Beanie Wells.

Though I'm bias against Beanie Wells.

Well...I do *now*....that was another change I made.  I dropped some no-name rookie out of Chicago (forgot his name...I panicked and pulled him off some experts rookie list...Alton something) and got Bennett off waivers.
