A long weekend at Henning Pauly's
« on: August 05, 2012, 01:23:17 AM »
Hey guys,

I joined Henning Pauly, Adrian O'Shaughnessy and Alex Froese  in the studio for some recording sessions at Henning's home studio in Germany.... I interviewed the guys all yesterday, even Henning's mum ( haha you'll especially love that one.. she told a friggin amazing story from his youth) and they will be up on my zine this week....

Today it will be my 3rd day with the guys  :P and as you can guess I'm rather ecstatic now.... They are recording the new Shadow's Mignon and also Shawn Gordon's new album .... Well the songs, the arrangements, the vocal sessions and the way work blew me away...  Yes, Henning's kinda famous for making fantastic albums and sitting on them for years.... (he's got 6 unreleased albums at the moment.... I know.. that's mental.... well we talked about those during the interview....) but Shawn will be rather quick to put it out.. so you might wanna be on the look out for that one....

Knowing the fact that, after seeing this thread, Chad and Mason the grumpy and won't stop bitching me about how they deserve to be here instead of me as they are the big fans yada yada yada   :P I decided to bribe them and got CDs signed for both..... (you're welcome....)

Note to the other jelly fan: I've got some more CDs and signed posters that I will send out via my webzine,  so if you are another fan that will hate me forever for being here, write to me and I will send you a copy....
PS: I am bearing all costs to with regards to my zine, without any sponsoring or donations, so I will gracefully accept your offer to cover the posting costs... Thank you!

Now.. here are some pictures for ya!

Stepahn Kernbach (Transmission & Chain)

yes I did that...

Annika Wagner (The Vacuous Heart)

The first Frameshift album with JLB on vocals... yes we talked a lot about him and I'm now a handshake away from my luv... :p

do I have to tell you what a funny, quick-witted genius guys he is or does to photo kinda speaks that out... and his songs for sure....

this is ma man... he is fuckin amazing. period... next Russel Allen... I kid you not!
well you can check out his own band
but you have to hear the 3rd Frameshift album.... he simply nails it....  let me add that he is only 25.... blah

Adrian.. a very lovely Irish bloke and local rockstar who gets to work with Henning after bugging the shit out him, sending him millions of tracks every single moth for three years.. lol.. or something like that... but look where his tenacity takes him....

this could go into GMD maybe.. I don't know.. anyways....
peace out!

Very cool babe, I'm sure I'll hear all about it this coming week/month/year. :P
Great pictures, looks like one hell of a good time, such a cool inside look at the process. I'm a bit jealous myself and I'm just starting to get into his work.

As to the signed material, I'll wait for BtB.  ;)

Very happy you got the chance to do this!  Very cool.

To think, it all started with a DTF roulette, and a SOTD that blossomed into a full review.

Donation will be sent as soon as you PM me your banking details.   ;)

Looks like you had a good time, so glad to hear it!

But now that that's through...
Frameshift's promo video

Not digging the vocalist. I liked Unweaving the Rainbow well enough, but the new guy is no LaBrie. Nor is he Sebastian Bach. I'm not sure what showing him do all those takes is supposed to accomplish either. The music sounds pretty good though!

I think this proves that if the next Frameshift CD sucks, it's Obscures fault.

Well obviously not, it would be silly to attribute how great a CD is to a girl who wasn't a part of it.

Why is it threadworthy to visit the house of a guy who happens to be rich enough to be able to afford paying quasi-famous musicians to record cheesy albums with him?

Why is complaining about a thread you find disinteresting post worthy as opposed to simply ignoring it?
