I've just got into this band recently, and I quite like their older stuff like 137, as well as their latest works. I've been wondering what happened to their older stuff, does someone know why those albums were discontinued?

I just don't think there were that many made. Pretty sure they have been reissuing the older albums though.

Yeah, they were pretty underground at the time and those albums aren't easy to get a hold of. But ZBomber is right about the re-iusses though.

Their old stuff has quite a few nice gems. Perpetual Night Shift is wonderful.

Have you heard/do you like Someone Here is Missing? I think it's at least on par with TW, if not better.

So We Row is a brilliant closer. I think it is probably my favorite album to come out in 2010.

You're missing out. Seriously, work on getting it. If you like TW, you won't be disappointed.

So epic with the trumpets and vocal layers. Perfect finish to an excellent album.

You might be able to find the album opener Nothing at Best, and maybe Wake Up the Dead. Both good songs, first two on the album.

Bump to say that I've been listening to Tightly Unwound again for the first time in a while, and now it clicked even more.
Such a fantastic album, the only song I'm still not completely sold on would be 'My Debt To You'.
Not that it's bad at all, I'm just kinda waiting for the song to 'kick in', something that doesn't happen, and I feel like it's a great intro, but I kinda want some bombastic climax or something.
Hard to choose favorites, but songs like Tightly Wound, The Sorry State, My Bleeding Hand, Different World and Too Much to Loose =  :hefdaddy :hefdaddy :hefdaddy

Yeah it's great, I guess my point was that I had expected the song to 'take another turn' or something like that.
It's still great, but for me, the album really gets better and better for every song, and it's superb.  :tup

Haven't spinned that one in a while either, but that is also a very good album.
I kinda like the elecronic-vibe, it has some really great songs, and overall it's a very solid release.
I'm sad to say that I only know their two last albums, but I guess I should work my way back with Little Man and the rest.  :tup

So We Row is still my favourite song by them, easily.

Simple question, what album is a nice starting point for this band? They've intrigued me.

I've never cared for "Different World." Easily my least favorite from Tightly Unwound. It's one of those songs that I can never remember as soon as it's over.

You can't go wrong with either Tightly Unwound or Someone Here is Missing.

Someone Here is Missing is my favorite, btw.

I'm not really surprised you feel this way, considering this is The Mootles Method:

1. Is the album popular?

Yes. Response: It has no flow.
No. Response: I think it's underrated :P

2. Has the band changed their style over the years?

Yes. Response: Older stuff is automatically better.
No. Response: Not really into them because they haven't changed things up and it gets stale to me

3. Have I been listening to them for more than 3 months?

Yes. Response: They are no longer my favorite band.
No. Response: They are my favorite band.

4. Does the band have EPs?

Yes. Response: They are better than the albums because no one has heard them.
No. Response: They are probably not a band worth checking out.

Okay, so I've been listening a lot to this band this week, really fantastic band.

Little Man:
Fantastic album that really grows for each time I listen to it, it's very diverse with some songs being more simple-structured, some being more 'epic', and overall a cool mix in sound.
Some people say that some songs sound Radiohead, and even though I don't agree fully, I can understand why they think so, and to me TPT is a really great blend of progressive and alternative rock.
So this album is pretty fantastic, hard to pick favorites since they're all so very good, but maybe Snowdrops.

What We Have Sown
Another fantastic album, though pretty different compared to Little Man.
The first five songs are all slightly different in terms of style, some are more 'traditional' TPT-songs, though I was blown away by some fantastic instrumental-parts on this album, especially on West Winds and the monstrous title-track.
It's hard not to say something about the title-track, being ~27 ½ minutes long, which is probably the band's longest song? (I might be wrong)
It has some really fantastic sections, the middle-section with the keyboard-part is really brilliant.

That's it for now I guess, but yeah.. great band.  :tup

Tagging this thread since I'm getting into this band. So far, I've gotten familiar with Tightly Unwound which is absolutely amazing (btw, My Debt to You is the first song that hooked me up, I think it's awesome). I love the feeling of the album and its flow, it has quickly become one of one of my favorite albums.

I'm now trying to get familiar with Little Man, so far I've enjoyed it a lot but I can't judge until I've heard it all at least 5-6 times. It has the potential to surpass Tightly Unwound, but we'll see.
