I have received no notification that mine has shipped yet... did you?

I got an email from them with the title "Shipping update for order xxxxxx" on the 26th that said it had shipped, but it didn't include a tracking number.

Picked up nearly everything, some things I didn't have physically such as Entropia and The Rainmaker. Such a friggin steal, about 35 albums (more than just the $2 ones) for only about $90. Thank the Heavens it happened right around b-day time, and I was going to save my money... Silly me.

Prymary - The Tragedy Of Innocence
Marillion - Somewhere Else
Orianthi - Believe
Time Machine - Secret Oceans Part 2*
To-Mera - Delusions
Mullmuzzler - Mullmuzzler 2
Dungeon - Resurrection
Royal Hunt - 2006 Live (2CD)**

*Only got this because, frankly, I likely have the largest physical Time Machine collection in America. Frankly most people have never heard or care about this band, and their Italian with little American distribution.
**Probably have one of the largest Royal Hunt collections as well, so even though I already have the DVD, fuck it.

I have 4 Time Machine discs.  Maybe I'm in second?

Nice haul.

Probably. :lol Had no clue anyone else here cared about them. I have...

Project: Time Scanning
Dungeons of the Vatican
Act II: Galileo
Shades of Time
Secret Ocean, Part 2
Eternity Ends
Aliger Daemon
Evil
Reviviscence

I think all I need is Hidden Secrets and Secret Ocean, Part 1.

Do you know if these guys are still around and ever plan on doing anything again?

Got my CDs on Friday:

The Prymary CD is interesting....almost sounds a little bit "demo-ish" in a few places, but definitely some cool ideas.

I've listened to it a few times, and I thought I'd be really into it if only because of the concept, but I'm always sort of underwhelmed. There are some interesting themes and the soloing is great, but there's nothing super special or really catchy melodies on it of note. Being not only a Prog band, but a supergroup, I feel like I should be wowed. I'm curious to see if I'm alone.

"the smell of stale sweat and shit, steaming through the night"

"let me introduce, mah brutha"

"sucking on his pipe"

You're not.  My older brother bought that when it first came out; he is a big NDV, so it was an automatic buy for him.  Anyway, he liked it a lot and burned me a copy, and I gave it numerous listens, but it never did anything for me.  So, I'm with ya.

I think DC Cooper's voice was what I liked the least, actually. But vocals are always a varied taste, so I didn't let them bother me as much as I would've usually let them. What did was the lyrics. On paper it seems like a really great story, but things like introducing Tommy 3 songs before the album's end really bring it down.

Funny, I actually got 2 copies of the Chrome Shift album by accident, so I gave one to a friend of mine, and the only Progressive anything I've been able to get him into was PoS's Scarsick.... Haven't heard it yet myself, but, hey, I've made worse and more costly choices if it's as you say. I've only managed to hear Voice in the Light and Akphaezya's Anthology II of the albums I got (nearly everything, gonna have to stay away from things that cost money in general), and holy damn is the latter a fantastic breath of fresh air. Wish I had known about it sooner. Could do without the growls, but there aren't a lot, and considering how beautiful the vocalist's voice is and that, from what I've read, her solo career is similar to Tori Amos's, they're not bad, and appear as much as the growls on Haken's Aquarius: two lines and one movement of a song. Tolerable for someone like myself who doesn't like growls in their Prog.

I like that site, but Roine Stolt had an interesting message about it back in June on the TFK yahoo mailing list:
Quote
It is more complicated than that -
> Because - as some of you know - Ken has his own record label - Lasers Edge.
> he release lot's of stuff - among those, self-financed albums by some of my own new favourite bands - UK's "Haken" and American band "District 97".
> Much or all of what is on Ken's label are bands with regular daytime jobs that live the prog'n roll dream on free time and need not see revenue
> back from their albums.
>
> When he press his edition of these I'm sure he get a good manufacturing price in the USA and get them shipped to his door.
> The deals he have with these bands are pretty standard - meaning the bands won't see much revenue, unless they sell
> between 25'000 to 50'000 copies - and unfortunately they don't - as most relatively "unknown" bands sell between 500 - 1500 copies.
> So it is a much loved hobby for most - and for some a dream they keep on dreaming - to be as big as Rush or DT.
>
> Anyway, Ken keep his prices low - he can sell for low prices because his own costs are low and he moves quantity.
>
> However when Ken wants to buy albums from Sweden , like Anekdoten, MoonSafari or things from Reingold Records or me he need to "compete"
> with his own low prices for US manufactured product - meaning that albums that we initially pay more to manufacture over here and then need to ship to the USA will be
> "too damn expensive" for Ken to deal with . Or we need to lower the prices to the point where we earn little or nothing.
>
> We do NOT make money on touring so for TFK it is crucial to see money back from record sales - or there will be no more albums or no more
> touring.
>
> My intention is to keep going - so it is easy I cannot recommend buying cheaper versions of the album - buying from us is always the best coice
> and coming to our shows will garantee a future for TFK.
>
> Ken does nothing wrong really - he is a good guy - he does what every businessman would do - but unfortunately a dis-service for bands
> like The Flower Kings, Agents Of Mercy, IQ or even Spocks Beard.
>
> Thanx for staying this little lecture....
> Roine.

Basically, it sounds like Roine says that Ken keeping his prices so low takes away any profit bands like TFK would see from sales.

Er, I don't see how Roine is obligated to work with Ken?   ???

No bands make a lot of profit from CD sales because kids don't buy CDs any more, they download.

LaserCD.com's catalog has some steals for me besides the two dollar albums (Operation Mindcrime with a live CD for $10 (the single CD is $6), or A Matter of Life and Death (imported) $7), though most of the $2 albums I bought are awesome (especially Juggle 9 and Dropping 10, Space Revolver); a few of the other albums need time to grow on me. I find it awesome to find prices on CDs lower than ordering them from iTunes.

Yeah, I really don't see any fault with Ken either. Frankly most bands can't expect to make much if anything on record sales today. You could make your CD $20 and make more on each, but at that point you're pricing yourself outside the reach of more casual fans. I generally have a rule that including shipping I will not spend more than $15 on a new release. I will go to whatever retailer (usually Amazon) who can do that price for me. Each unit purchased is helping to grease the wheels to keep things going, at the end of the day bands who have higher prices are just going for higher margins over higher sales numbers. I can respect both sides of things, but sadly in today's world at the end of the day there is just little to no money in things for anyone.

This is a question that may or may not have been asked, but is the Chrome Shift disc any good?
Perhaps you should ask bosk to reverse the "e" and "a" in the second half of your user name.
