Hmm, is it working now?

Either way, the topic is "What never fails to liven up the party?"

He could always just *tell* you the band and song, and let you find it on Spotify.

Yeah found out yesterday that it's going to be two weeks until we're reconnected, pretty pissed off about it! But I agree with JB, I've got my 3G dongle working so hopefully I can at least get a Spotify link for you or something.

Expect a song for this round in the next hour or two.

I have all the songs, and have listened to all of them. lielow's had to be returned, so his will be scored later after I get his replacement, but all the other writeups will be up tonight/early morning tomorrow sometime. I haven't really been sleeping at all lately, so it might be very late when they do go up, dealwithit.gif

ROUND 5 RESULTS!

So I totally didn't even realize that I hadn't recieved Seth's, so his results will be done after I get his song. I won't dock him any points, because I didn't give him a reminder or anything.

Lonestar: Aerosmith - Big Ten Inch Record

lololololol. I'm not really a big Aerosmith fan (SHOCKING) but it's not terrible or anything. It fits in with the theme pretty - I definitely see it as the kind of song I'd enjoy at a bar or party as background music to get my curvacious hips a rockin'. On a personal note, whenever I need to liven up a party I just wip out my 4 inch minidisc, but maybe that's just me.

Relevance: 3/4
Music: 2/4
Total: 5/8

Nekov: Illegal Aliens - Ratrace

Hmm, this was an odd song for me; I felt like I should have enjoyed it far more than I actually did. Something about the production was a major turnoff for me - it felt like a backing track for a instructional guitar DVD or something. The songwriting wasn't too bad by any means, and I LOVED the drumming (not surprising, considering it's Minnemann). Topically, it felt too proggy and odd to be really party appropriate. All in all though, I can't really score this too highly :/

Relevance: 2/4
Music: 2/4
Total: 4/8

Jingle.Boy: Prince - Let's Go Crazy

Prince is one of those artists who I'm familiar with despite not being able to name a single song of his. Squiggly line name or no, the song was quite good. It's not really the kind of thing I see myself putting on regularly, but it would be perfect in a bar/jukebox to me - it was very similar to Lonestar's submission in that way. I enjoyed the song quite a bit more however and, given the choice between the two on a jukebox, would definitely take this one.

Relevance: 4/4
Music: 3/4
Total: 7/8

Orcus: The Who - Instant Party Mixture

I actually used to be a really big fan of The Who when I was a wee lad, but for whatever reason never heard their debut album, so I accepted this song. It was a good song though. Much like previous songs, not really something I'd listen to on my own, but still very fitting for the theme.

Relevance: 3/4
Music: 3/4
Total: 6/8

Rich: Freak Kitchen - Porno Daddy

I actually know Freak Kitchen, which a certain person should know BECAUSE WE SAW THEM TOGETHER WITH XJ OR DID YOU FORGET THAT MAGICAL NIGHT HUH

Anyways, I'd actually totally forgotten about them, and this song was a great submission. Rockin, technical but not to the point of losing the groove, and quite heavy but not inaccessibly so (which is important for the theme).

Relevance: 4/4
Music: 3/4
Total: 6/8

LieLow: A Great Big Pile of Leaves - Alligator Bop

I've heard them pimped around, but never actually listened. This was really good. Quite a bit different from the above submissions - certainly more 'indie' or somesuch. I don't really have a whole lot to say about the song - it didn't grab me a ton, but I still really enjoyed it. I like the clean guitar melodies and horns especially. As for the topic, I can definitely see this going well at a smaller house party or less crowded bar, so thumbs up on that front.

Relevance: 3/4
Music: 3/4
Total: 6/8

Ravenheart: Gary Numan - The Fall

Relevance: 3/4
Music: 4/4
Fudge: +1 Because I've spun this album NON FUCKING STOP SINCE I GOT THIS SONG
Total: 8/8

Current Rankings:

ClairvoyantCat: 28+?=?
Ravenheart: 25+8=33
Rich: 26+6=32
Nekov: 26+4=30
Lonestar: 25+5=30
orcus: 24+6=30
jingle.boy: 23+7=30
LieLow: 22+6=28

Christ, a 4-way tie for 3rd or 4th.

Oh whoops, yeah I totally forgot about that! We did go to quite a few gigs together that year so I can't remember all of them. :P And I searched your last.fm but there was no mention of them, so I blame you entirely.

Also you can't count... 3 + 4 = 7 ;)
