With a decidedly heavy rock-vibe this roaring debut paints with a full palette of sounds; brooding, melancholic, righteously indignant and exuberantly heavy. From the growling riffage of opening salvo "This Is My God" to the heavy forlorn balladry of follow-up "Lost Worlds" which showcases Richard Taylor's soaring vocals, it's clear that "British Lion" is an altogether different beast from MAIDEN.

Wow this came as a surprise to me, didn't think that Steve would ever do something that's not Maiden related!

This could be very interesting and i'm looking foward too hear it!

As a huge IM fan, this is quite a surprise. I'm looking forward to this now as Steve is a great bassist and song writer.

I have some expectations for it. The three latest Iron Maiden albums are kinda dull, so I hope this is better.

There is always that risk, that this has 6-7 semi proggyish 7-12 minutes song, which have been more boring, since Maiden have made more than one on their albums. But I think that this is going to be good.

As with everything, the vocals are the key for me. The fact that they are described as "soaring" bodes well for me.

On the IM fan club board people are shocked and some upset. Some think since IM was somewhat his band, by doing solo work it means the end of IM.

I'm sure it doesn't mean the end of Maiden, especially since their popularity is huge right now. I'm skeptical about the quality of music on this album though.

Nicko is almost 60, I think IM days are numbered, but I don't believe they are done yet or in the next few years. I gotta think Adrian and Bruce's solo work had possibly inspired steve to put some of his non maiden interests into some different music.

Steve's always had it in his mind that there's an "Iron Maiden sound"; he always had a very specific vision for the band's sound and image. I think this will all just be material that Steve didn't think "sounded Maiden".

This definitely comes as a surprise. I wonder if Steve is able to write songs and play basslines that don't sound like IM, otherwise I don't see the reason to release a solo effort. I'm interested.

With all the amazing work Steve has done for Maiden i think there might be some tiny tiny musical frustrations that needs to get out and that he's been holding back on for the past 37 freakin years!

I would have been exploding like this if that steam would not have been let out!

I think his bad is going to be unknowns. If they were known musicians, I think it would be in the press release, they made mention of Shirley who is a known.

Had no idea this was coming, and it'd be interesting to hear him do something that doesn't sound like Iron Maiden. I mean, admittedly, it's gonna be hard to do that, since Iron Maiden is and has always been his baby (for good and bad, lol), but I'm sure he can produce more than just an album of seven minute long songs with quiet intros.

Maybe for a bit of variety? Sure IM is mostly his, but their music always follows a pretty strict formula, whereas maybe he wants to try something a bit different that he can't really do with IM.

Same with Steve Wilson and PT.
