Jack Nicholson Appreciation Thread
« on: July 17, 2012, 05:10:36 AM »
I don't know why I didn't think to post this at the time, but on Sunday I had a most wonderful Jack Nicholson marathon: Easy Rider followed by The Shining followed by As Good As it Gets. The man is a wonderful actor, I love how crazy he is. Please appreciate with me.

Amazing actor.

For the longest time, I swore that Something's Gotta Give and As Good as it Gets were the same movie  :lol

Always loved his work.  Batman, Anger Management, Few Good Men the list goes on.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Great actor, even if I often feel like he is playing himself over and over and over and over....

Can't deny his talent, but really didn't like how he handled Heath Ledger getting the role as the Joker or his death.

One Flew over the Cuckoo's nest was one of the best acting performances ever.

How did he handle it?
When asked about how he felt about not being offered the role for the Joker the second time around, he commented that he was 'furious' and when asked to comment on Ledger's death he stated that he 'warned him' and laughed about it.  I don't know, I know that's pretty vague.  Seemed kind of lame though.

He can do no wrong. I thought he should've gotten an Oscar nod for his role in The Departed

It's my favorite performance ever.

I didn't.  DiCaprio and Damon were both better than he was (assuming all three qualified as lead actors, as opposed to supporting ones).  If the movie was gonna get a Lead Actor nomination, it should have gone to DiCaprio.

My favorite actor of all time.
Old favorites of his are Five Easy Pieces, Chinatown of course and Batman
More recent As Good as It Gets (on my top 5 movies of all time list), Something's Gotta Give and the Departed.
There's a lot of plain uninteresting movies he was in but his performance, which I later discovered is always based on his normal self, makes it worth the watch. About Schmidt is a good example of those.
I wouldn't want somebody with 18 kids to mow my damn lawn, based on a longstanding bias I have against crazy fucks.
