Do you try to match the singer's octave? Or do you sing in your own comfortable range? Do you sing the main line? Harmonies? Make up your own harmonies? And for guys, if there's a female singer, do you try to sing along in the same octave with falsetto?
No, I usually use a lower octave, because I have quite low singing voice. I can sing Wait for Sleep correctly, but there my range ends. I try sometimes to sing harmonies, if they're simple. Sometimes I sing only the harmony, when I'm singing only by myself. Making own harmonies is a bit hard, but I've done that also.
And no, I don't sing from falsetto, if the vocalist is woman, because it sounds terrible. Or if I do that, I do it as a joke (I've gotten good score from SingStar even that way).
And if I try to growl, it sounds pathetic. If I do harsh vocals, I roar. But I mostly do clean vocals.
Well the important part is that we're all having fun.
That's true.
