Falling into Infinity vs Octavarium

Yeah.

Both are softer than their predecessors. Maybe the are even the softest DT albums.

FII for me.

FII, as a whole, is more consistent album where Octavarium song itself is pretty epic but other songs are disjointed.

Octavarium. I like Falling into Infinity, but it has too many songs that I either don't care for or don't like. The only track I skip sometimes on Octavarium is Never Enough (I finally grew to like I Walk Beside You! yaaaaaay).

Octavarium is my favourite DT song but I had to vote for FII. As a whole it is just better. Both are relatively inconsistent albums though.

Root of All Evil is a very cool song. 8VM is pretty decent.

However Trial of Tears kills 8vm for me and FII has more better songs, better production, better everything.

This is really close for me. But 8Vm has more nostalgia value for me as it was one of my first DT albums...so I had to go with that one

Octavarium, absolutely. I think it's the most well rounded DT album ever. It's got heavy songs on par with Train of Thought, light songs on par with FII and the title track, which, quite frankly, is pretty on par with A Change of Seasons. You get every side of DT with this album.

Sorry but Octavarium is better. I mean it has the title track lol. Trial of Tears/Lines in the Sand are nearly perfect but Octavarium imo is DT's greatest achievement. Plus The Root of All Evil and Sacrificed Sons are really good as well. I do not care for most of Falling Into Infinity

Yes, but that's all it has, as far as great songs go.  Sure, some of the other songs are good, but if I never heard tracks 1-7 from OV ever again, I probably wouldn't care.  FII has probably 7 or 8 songs that are better than OV's 2nd best song, IMO.  That says it all.

Plus, the best three songs from FII are all better than Octavarium's title track, so this makes this even more of a rout!

Both have plenty of amazing songs, although FII is more consistent overall, and flows better as an album. Octavarium's worse songs are perfectly spaced to disrupt the album entirely, despite how much good material is on the album.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

FII. Octavarium has some boring songs.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. Agreed. FII's worst is worse than anything on 8vm, and 8vm's best beats everything, but over all, FII is more exciting. 8vm gets kind of stale.

FII has better top songs like ToT, Hk, LitS, but too many weak songs, so its Octavarium for me.

Well, I love Falling into Infinity and its one of my favorite albums. And I haven't listened to Ocatavarium in over 6 years.

   So FII for me.

Falling Into Infinity.... Octavarium has some great tracks (Root of All Evil, These Walls, Sacrificed Sons, and Octavarium) but was a bit too wishy-washy and derivative (Panic Attack, I Walk Beside You and Never Enough) in spots.

Octavarium by far. It's kind of funny - everyone seems to be saying that FII is more consistent overall, yet I couldn't agree less. To me, Octavarium doesn't really have any low points other than Never Enough, while seemingly every other song on FII is pretty bad. FII is a decent album, but 8VM is much better.

Honestly there should be a "tie" option here. But--since I had to choose--I went with Octovarium. I can listen to more tracks more often on that one. 9 times out of 10, when a track from FII comes on, I skip it. There are three tracks I can listen to with some regularity on FII (Peruvian Skies, Hell's Kitchen, and Trial of Tears) Whereas with Octovarium, I can listen to the whole album. I think Jordan brought a lot to that album and it is some of JLBs tenderest vocals. It's not a great album as a whole, but It's definitely the lesser of two evils in my book.
Everything is immaterial. Do you know that reality is immaterial? This is not reality.
In what friggin' universe is a 68 minute long album "short"?
