Aaron Sorkin's Newsroom (HBO Series)
« on: July 09, 2012, 09:22:53 PM »
After the third episode; I had to do this appreciation thread.  This is one INTENSE, fast-hitting, intelligent drama.  I can do without the lame love triangle plot with Maggie, though.

And once again, the cast is absolutely fantastic.  I always enjoy seeing new faces and new talent.

Bravo Sorkin and thank you HBO for maintaining fine television.

HBO is the best channel for shows....

My friend told me to check this out and I'm enjoying it a lot. Its very clever with the dialogue.  The last episode with the meeting and the flashbacks showing the news topics and what not was awesome.

I don't like it.  Sorkin needs someone else above him to prevent his scripts from becoming too Sorkin-y.

Well I liked the first episode and I've DVR'd the 2 other so I'll post about it later.

I like it.  It seems a little preachy, but it's Sorkin.

Heh, from what I've read about it:

Liberals and/or Democrats will love it

Republicans and/or Conservatives will hate it

Should be right in my wheelhouse  :lol

Might watch it based on this thread alone, haven't heard of it. HBO is mostly high quality.

I've heard of it and am definitely interested in watching it. Only problem is that I don't have HBO, so I may have to wait.

They released the pilot for free on youtube (not available in all regions, probably only NA). I've only watched the trailer and I'm hooked - love Sorkin. I don't mind clever, fast paced, witty and preachy when done good. Think of it this way: if Sorkin had written House, there would actually be a back and forth conversation instead of House just owning everyone.

I like Will's character a lot.  It reminds me of a Republican friend that I have who is so pissed off with with the current state of the GOP.

I loved episode 4. I loved it because I totally agreed with Will. I mean the story line was great and all but I actually felt like the point about the tabloids was great and it totally fit into the main story. I also starting liking the "love" stories going on. They weren't as annoying.

Yep, if you're talking about the scene I'm thinking of, it was such a great way to bring the season full circle. I hope she becomes a regular next season.

Damn right, kid from Camelot. :tup

And the best part of that scene, imo, is his new answer.

I really enjoyed the season. I like how they left the love stories open to be continued next season. I thought if the couples ended up with the people they are clearly to be with then it would lead to no storylines to fall over to next season.

Season 2!

Just caught up on the last 3 episodes of season 1.  I guess I missed the last episode, since I had no recollection of most of the plots, which all seem to be nicely resolved (maybe too nice).

I assume episode 2 is on tonight, since I only watch on HBO Go and only the first episode is available for view now.

That was pretty depressing. And I wish that dumb love triangle would go away.
