It's ranking time. The outcome may shock you.
First, a review of the standings:
1. kingshmegland - 39
2. Nekov - 34
3. MasterShakezula - 29
4. lonestar - 27
5. WindMaster - 26

RANKING:7th placeNominator: WindMaster
Song: Bonden og Kraka - The Farmer And The Crow
Artist: Tempest
Weird stuff, dude. I can't get into it.
6th placeNominator: Elite
Song: Mercy (Duffy cover)
Artist: Triggerfinger
I have heard the original, and I'm not a big fan. This version didn't do too much for me either, though. Singer's cute, I guess.
5th placeNominator: MasterShakezula
Song: Decades
Artist: Joy Division
Yep, nothing happened here. Completely and utterly flaccid.
4th placeNominator: Nekov
Song: Heaven Alive
Artist: Oceansize
I liked it, but it ultimately wasn't good enough to crack the top 3.
3rd placeNominator: kingshmegland
Song: Tightly Wound
Artist: The Pineapple Thief
To the surprise of no one, his highness captures my heart with a final sonic treat.
2nd placeNominator: lonestar
Song: Sugarmice
Artist: Marillion
Beautiful, evocative, and thoughtful.
1st placeNominator: jingle.boy
Song: Nice Guys Finish First
Artist: Frameshift
Congrats, jingle, you've finally cracked it.
Funky and excellent. I love the tribal feel of the chorus.
SCORINGFirst, the losers. WindMaster, Elite, and MasterShakezula got 7th, 6th, and 5th place respectively, meaning they unfortunately lost their bets. They bet 6, 18, and 1 points respectively, so for the three of them:
Windmaster - 26 - 6 =
20Elite - 19 - 18 =
1MasterShakezula - 29 - 1 =
28Nekov, our current 2nd place holder, stays steady at:
Nekov -
34The question is, now, how the scores of the top 3 will stack up. jingle.boy bet the house and won 1st place, giving him a grand total of
jingle.boy - 17 + 17 =
34This mean's that jingle's tied with Nekov. Hopefully, that outcome is agreeable with him, given that he joined the roulette to "see if he can actually beat Nekov".
Next, the king bet 6 points and won, giving him
kingshmegland - 39 + 6 =
45Now, this result is interesting for a couple reasons. First of all, Nekov bet 10 points, telling me that if he won the bet that would be enough to surpass shmeg if he chose to bet little. If Nekov had gotten 3rd place instead of 4th, he would have 44 points, which would still not be enough to surpass shmeg's number one spot.
Now, I don't know why king bet 6 points. I think he wanted to have a bit of a buffer in case jingle's or Elite's big bets worked out (though losing 6 points would have in fact put him behind both jingle and Nekov, again by one point).
But that may not have been the best choice, as lonestar bet the lot and landed in the top 3. This doubled his score, leaving him with
lonestar - 27 + 27 =
54In the end, lonestar beat kingshmegland by 9 points; kingshmegland could only have beaten lonestar with a bet of 15 or higher.
In short, here's how points were distributed:
kingshmegland - 39 + 6 =
45Nekov - 34 =
34MasterShakezula - 29 - 1 =
28lonestar - 27 + 27 =
54WindMaster - 26 - 6 =
20Elite - 19 - 18 =
1jingle.boy - 17 + 17 =
34And the final rankings:
1. lonestar -
542. kingshmegland -
453. jingle.boy -
343. Nekov -
345. MasterShakezula -
286. WindMaster -
207. Elite -
