I just wqant to say that the orchestral bit in the middle was a thematic and lyrical element, and it wasn't meant to serve as groundbreaking music. The son is about the old year lamenting his death on New Years Eve, the orchestral bit is the clock counting down to midnight.

I personally like taking a day to figure out a song to send but also get in in so that the person running the roulette gets to listen to it and it becomes an earworm.

It's not bad advice. I try to give all my songs equal listens, but there are certain advantages (or, as jingle rightly pointed out, disadvantages) to getting your song in 36 hours before everybody else.
