I've heard there are regional differences.

We usually play "screw/fuck-the-dealer", which means if no one calls it by the time the flip card is turned down and gets back to the dealer, the dealer HAS to call trump. Well, that's about the only weird rule we use.

lol  A lot of my friends who aren't from Indiana have no clue what I'm talking about when I mention euchre. 

Euchre is a great game.  I play the "Try not to screw your partner" version.
