A Discussion On Blind Faith
« on: July 04, 2012, 10:12:08 AM »
I was listening to Blind Faith on my IPod last night and rediscovering how much I love this song.
I kind of went sour on it when they played it live on SC tour. I felt that James had to adjust too much from the main section to the chorus of the song and it sounded off to me. He went from his regular singing voice to an over the top falsetto, where it seemed like he was screaming the chorus. It didn't work for me live. Hearing it last night, it came to life for me again.
I'm sure many people enjoy his live version, but as a vocalist I didn't like like his approach to it. I guess that's what he had to do to pull it off.
I love the song, Blind Faith! :metal

Took me a long time to get into this song, but now I love it, much as I love everything on the album. From the start of the song, it sets up such a great atmosphere, and it keeps up such a high level of quality from start to finish.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

The best song from SDOIT. I absolutely adore everything about this song, but the instrumental break stands out, with JP's fast solo, the piano breakdown, and the unison.

Don't know where I'd rank it, but I know it's somewhere in the category of "pretty damn awesome".

I don't like the intro. Way too long. They should've just started it with the piano. Or at least had it fade in a little faster. It takes like 10 seconds before you can even hear anything.

Fantastic song, and features probably one of the 5-10 best instrumental sections since Rudess joined the band.  :tup :tup

I LOVE Blind Faith. Used to not be so crazy about it, but it has slowly become one of my all time favorite DT songs.

Just amazing.  DT should count their lucky stars that some of their fans are at this level of unconditional cult worship.

Rudess's best solo section.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. Amazing song, close to the top 10 DT songs ever at least. Great lyrics, great unique atmosphere and sound, and a perfect instrumental section.

Also has the best unison ever.
+1
+1

+1, melodic and technical.

The post-chorus, the entire instrumental section (although a *bit* out of place), and the verses rock.

I do agree, the chorus is odd and is hard to get into. The rest of the pieces make up for it I feel.

Blind Faith is a perfect song.

Pretty much this. Maybe three keyboard solos in a row is too much, but I'm happy with the song.

Really? I love the intro.

I just think it fades in too slowly. If I just have all the DT songs in a playlist and it's on random, then half the time I think that I'm still listening to the dead silence at the end of the previous track, so I'll skip ahead and end up skipping over Blind Faith.

Your ears or CD player must be broken.

Besides, after the slamming ending of The Glass Prison, that slow fade-in for Blind Faith is the perfect transition.
