Results are in

Player: Kari
Artist: Of Monsters and Men
Song: Little Talks
Review: This song made my morning. I was leaving home for work, it was cold, I was still sleepy and I punched this in my Mp3 player. Instant smile on my face. The combination of male and female vocals works very well, I normally don’t enjoy wind instruments but they were used wisely here and the melodies overall are very nice.
Score: 7

Player:   Lonestar
Artist: Tears of Anger
Song: Light up my fuse
Review: :metal It seems to me that these guys know what they want to do and achieve it. Nice metal tune, good riffs. The solo didn’t quite get to me but the rest was nice
Score: 5

Player: Jingle.boy
Artist: Darwin’s Radio
Song: Erase/Rewind
Review: I got a good vibe from this song. It stars nicely and builds up well, falls flat in the middle and then picks back up towards the end. The piano sections and the vocals were the two things that really clicked for me.
Score: 4

Player:   Wolfking
Artist: Sieges Even
Song: Tidal
Review: I didn’t really get into this song. Some parts I liked but some others just sounded like standard prog metal.
Score: 3

Player: Elite
Artist: Headspace
Song: Fall of America
Review: Another case of a song being too long. There were interesting parts with some nice riffs but others were just plain boring. I got the impression that this song could belong in a concept album and probably be better in context.
Score: 4

Player:   LieLowTheWantedMan
Artist: Big Big Train
Song: Victorian Brickwork
Review: Nice prog song. It was easy to listen and was mostly well put together, good instrumental sections, nice vocals and very soothing in some passages but I think they tried to go a little further than they should have. At some points the song lost me.
Score: 4

Player: Ravenheart
Artist: Poe
Song: Haunted
Review: Nice song, very easy to listen and with nice vocals. Nothing special about it.
Score: 4

Player: ReaperKK
Artist: God is an astronaut
Song: Post Mortem
Review: I’ve seen this band mentioned before but never checked it out. It goes right down my alley in post rock. Nice melodies, well driven with nice transitions and a very good post rock sound overall
Score: 5

Player: Ariich
Artist: Moon Safari
Song: Heartland
Review: Can’t believe I hadn’t listened to this band before. So uplifting and melodic, nice handling of the time signatures. I also liked that they manage to keep the prog short and very listenable.
Score: 6

Player: Gorille85
Artist: Modeselektor
Song: This
Review: This was…. weird. I’m not much into electronic music but the song had some interesting beats. What threw me off were the repeating sample vocals, and the occasional random sounds. I think the core of the song could be used for something more interesting
Score: 3

For round 2 send me some instrumental song. I don't mind if there are vocals as long as there are no lyrics.
Also regarding repeating bands, if a band got a 5 or above it's no longer usable.

Good thing I have an "Instrumental" playlist.  Going to peruse.

And intend to improve upon my middle of the pack score.  You're right, the middle does drag on a little.  FYI, Darwin's Radio is headed up by Dec Burke... who along with Jem is the key to Frost*.  Just in case you didn't know.

Dammit, for the instrumental round I would have sent God is an Astronaut! :lol

Glad you dug the Moon Safari, definitely check out that album as a starting point!

Cool, glad you liked it.  The instrumental is going to be a bitch though, you all ready know all my standard ones, including Martin Orford, which would have been my first choice.  If the PM I sent you comes back negative, this might be a rough round for me.

The whole album of theirs, In The Shadows, kicks some serious ass, check it out. I'm pretty sure they are done now though, haven't seen any news from them since early 2011.

I'll do that. If the whole album is as good as the one song you sent, then I'm a happy camper.

Shit, I can't send anything until tomorrow, since I'm not at my own computer. What I can do is give you a Youtube link of the song I want to send and send you the mp3 later. In fact, I think that's just what I'll do. Youtube link by pm, coming soon.

Still missing Rich (not surprising), Reaper (might have ended up buried in boxes while moving) and Kari (he's out all weekend).
