Will you spoil the setlist for yourself?
« on: June 14, 2012, 08:43:28 AM »
Well, will you?

I'm going to the Cleveland concert on the 21st, which should in theory make it easier for me to not spoil the setlist, being that there are only a handful of concerts before it. However, the closer it gets to the first concert (tomorrow), the more I think I will break.

Probably, yeah.  If it were totally up to me, I probably wouldn't.  But since I have to keep an eye on the threads in the forum that will not doubt spoil it, there's no way around it for me.

Bosk sacrifices himself for us

As far as spoiling the setlist, I'll try not to. Also someone may know the answer to this, I know DT is no longer doing rotating setlists but have they said if there will be an exception for consecutive shows in the same city?

Not sure, but they are swapping some songs here and there. It's not rotating, but there is some change...night to night, I believe.

Hey, one night sounds good to me. I can't make it this time because they're not playing close enough

Yes for me because I'm probably not gonna be able to resist...

Especially because I'll be going to the Philly show which is the last show on the US tour. If it was maybe the first couple of shows then I would try to not look at the set list.

My problem is that if I don't look, I'll probably spend the whole concert thinking, "I hope they play this song," etc., and ruin it for myself  :lol

Being that Boston is one of the last shows on the tour, I will definitely check the set list . If it were during the first few shows, I would try and hold off.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I am going to try my absolute hardest to make this the first concert EVER that I don't spoil the setlist for. Seeing the Cleveland show, and the Detroit show the day after. Before, it was tough because we were usually closer to the last stops on the tour, but since we're one of the first this time, I WILL hold out.

The other issue is, since I'll probably be standing next to Yeshua4 all night, I don't want to miss the opportunity to keep saying, "Yeah, so after this song, they're going to play _" all night.

I'd love to go on a concert, but I can't, therefore I will be looking at the setlist, though I don't now whether that's spoiling anything or not.  :P

For what it's worth, can someone kindly help me to avoid (some) spoilers by PMing me after each show before the Cleveland show (on the 21st) and telling me which songs from last year's Pittsburgh concert were played (NOT new songs, just ones that were played at the show from last year).

2011 Pittsburgh Show
1. Bridges in the Sky
2. These Walls
3. Build Me Up, Break Me Down
4. Endless Sacrifice
Drum Solo
5. Ytse Jam
6. Wait For Sleep
7. Far From Heaven
8. The Great Debate
9. On The Backs Of Angels
10. Caught In A Web
11. Through My Words
12. Fatal Tragedy
13. Breaking All Illusions
-------------------------------
14. Pull Me Under

I won't be able to make it this round but I saw them at the Rosemont last year and I knew from the setlist exactly what they were going to play.  I liked knowing ahead of time.

For the encore they did Pull Me Under and just before they hit the first note my friend yelled out "Pull Me Under!" and everyone was amazed and giving him high fives.  Pretty funny.  I was kinda surprised more people didn't know.

Well, as far as I know they aren't actually coming to my area this time around, so I can't exactly spoil it for myself.  But as a general rule, yes, I do usually end up spoiling setlists for myself.
Sincerely,
Jaffa

Same as Jaffa, due to the complete ineptitude of the local promoter, they're not coming to Vzla this tour, but yes I usually check out the setlists for all major tours.

When I saw them in 2007 and 2009 I was pleasantly surprised.  This is when Mike was rotating the sets obviously and I really wanted to hear Blind Faith and Prophets of War specifically.  Each time I got to hear them so it was a cool surprise.  Now if they would not have played them I would rather have known so as not to get my hopes up only to have them play a song I don't care for in its place.

Therefore I am definitely spoiling it for myself.

Even though I'm not seeing them this tour I voted no. I don't want to know the setlist before I buy the DVD, but chances are I will find out some way.

I'm really torn. I don't want to be disappointed if I don't get X amount of songs I haven't seen live before, so if it's going to be a disappointment I'd rather know beforehand. But, if they're going to play something like The Glass Prison or In the Name of God, I'd rather not know beforehand and let that "OMFG THEY'RE PLAYING THAT" feeling hit as they open up the song.

Though, I'm in a unique position, because I get to see them twice, two days in a row. So, I don't think I'll spoil the second one, but I'll look up the sets after that one to see if they're rotating anything.

That's exactly why I'm gonna have my friend get on and find the setlist they play tonight (and at the next show) and cross reference it with the two concerts I've previously been to, and then have him ONLY tell me the songs that I have already seen.

That way I'm prepared to see certain songs again, and will still be surprised.

Hell, just tell me this. If I saw this setlist last time, and my goal is to see mostly new songs, will I be happy?
