I made predictions before the tourney started in the other soccer thread. Teams in CAPS will go through in my opinion

Group A- GREECE, RUSSIA, Czech Republic, Poland
Group B- GERMANY, NETHERLANDS, Portugal, Denmark
Group C- SPAIN, ITALY, Croatia, Ireland
Group D- FRANCE, ENGLAND, Sweden, Ukraine

It would be a bummer if the Dutch don't move on, but right now it looks rather grim  for them.

I think the dutch still have a good chance. They need to defeat Portugal which is not impossible at all given that they are not playing good football, and Germany should beat Denmark easily.

They should beat Portugal with 2 points lead though. And since they couldn't even manage to score once against Denmark..

Well, I still hope for the Dutch team, but they are making things difficult for themselves.

Who's everyone rooting for? I'd love to see Russia win.

I'm rooting for The Netherlands, England and Ukraine/Poland. About in that order.

But the first seems highly unlikely at the moment. We need to beat Portugal. It;s not impossible, but it would be very sweet if we can make it through to the next round.
Hey dude slow the fuck down so we can finish together at the same time.

Germany.

We have the team to win the cup, though I fear that we will once again be beaten by spain.

Well, I'm not holding my breath for the Dutch. They look Tired, washed up and more importantly, not as a team. Their coach persists in playing the wrong players and in a system that worked somewhat two years ago, but all the competition is onto their tactics. As a team they have not progressed, but are instead in danger of surpassed by far lesser teams. As a fan I'm hoping, but realistically, future looks grim. Chances that were 100% goals two years ago, now are totally wasted. What the hell happened??

I don't get why Afellay has been starting both games so far. He might be good, but he has been injured almost all of the season, and it's not like they don't have good replacements.
Why not play something like this instead?

RVP - Huntelaar - Robben
          Sneijder

I'd change Van Persie and Robben, but yeah, that could totally work. Very aimed at the offense, but that't necessary against Portugal. Losing with 4-0 would be even better than winning 1-0.

I also think De Jong played pretty poorly in the previous games. Why not bring on someone else, like Strootman? From what I've heard he's good.
And Vlaar in the defense is much better than Mathijsen and Heitinga IMO.

England aren't a bad team. They just, some how, manage to screw up soooo much.
