@Blob, either you're the master of sarcasm, or you have to explain to me why an Aussie would watch the semis of Eurovision
rumborak
Why not?! To me the appeal of Eurovision is the awfulness of the entries, and seeing a bunch of people get on stage with fake plastic instruments, and pretend to perform terrible electro-dance tunes that incorporate some horrible traditional musical element of their own country, along with an outdated sense of what popular music is.
By the time you get to the final, you've already culled a lot of the hilariously bad ones.
PS, I'm not sure if they got through to the final, but there was a gem in the first semi. It was a generic dance/pop tune, with some flaky girl out front singing and dancing, with a few backup male dancers. Eurovision has a rule about the vocals needing to be live, so there was actually another girl at the very edge of the stage, not moving at all, in complete darkness and hiding, serving no purpose but to double the vocals with her so they sounded in pitch. You could only spot her briefly in the wide shots, but not a sign of her in any of the closeups. That is gold.
