Poll: How much time do you spend listening to music, daily?

From the moment you wake up, to the moment you sleep, how much do you listen to? It doesn't matter what you're doing while you listen, just that you are listening.

Well, I get an hour a day of music driving from school and back. I also listen to music when I do homework and study since it helps me concentrate so I just pop in some 5.1 DVDs/Blu-rays. Also do this when I am doing chores, working out or really doing ANYTHING around the house... so that's about 5 hours on average.

Probably about 4 hours, at the moment.  Days off it's about 14 hours.

Your approval means the world to me. Also, I was just thinking about if I included the time while I slept, is closer to 15 hours a day. Personally, I can't fall asleep without some music under my pillow.

It absolutely used to be 8-10 hours a day.   

Nowadays, I've hit a quandary.  My preferred style of music sets my wife's bipolar on edge...so I rarely get to listen to anything that would be "upsetting". 

Most of the time now I listen to music in the car...so I look for opportunities to go driving.  Luckily my work usually puts me on the road for an hour or two a day.  Then there are errands and the like.   When I'm relaxing at home, I will listen to new stuff for about an hour at night with headphones.  (Been listening to BTBAM lately, and LOVING it).

On an average school day, 5.5-6.5 hours. We're allowed to listen to music in school if we're working independently so I sometimes manage to listen to an album or 2 in class. On weekends its sometimes as high as 8 hours.

1.5 to 2.5 hours.  It was much higher in the old days, more like five or six hours a day, and a lot higher when I could listen to tunes at work.  Someday the average will rise again.

I probably get in over four hours, due to listening to it on my 3 hour commute, but if you add in the Banda the Mexicans play in the kitchen, then it's twelve.

I chose 3.5-4.5. That's probably just about perfect for a normal work day, which is almost everyday for weeks on end these days. But when I have a day off, that number will probably jump to 8-15. Some days I will literally just have a 'veg out and music' day and I will constantly have music either playing in the background and/or just resting, getting lost in the music on my super awesome bed that I love.

5.5-6.5 hours per day or so. Average. I get to listen one hour just the walk to and from school, then I normally listen to music all the time when I'm at home, even if it's just to have something in the background.

At this stage of my life it's the least amount of time it's ever been due to family commitments etc.
If I was free and single it would be so much more than the 1.5-2 hours I manage these days.
I learned to drive a couple of years ago and that's shortened the daily commute considerably and I did alot of listening on the way to work.

I quite like silence. I never feel an urge to listen to music, I hear stuff in my head all the time (thinking of how to arrange certain tunes, etc) and I don't always want something else to drown out my own thoughts. I don't always need a soundtrack, you know.

Probably listen to an hour a day or so avg. Depends what kind of a mood I'm in.

I would say somewhere between 11 and 12 hours daily, unless something important is happening

Well its depends on the day.

    There's always a guaranteed 1 and a half hours for commuting.

    Then there's maybe an hour or so doing oddball things around the house (wash, making diner or cleaning)

     Then the real determination is how much HW I have to do. If its 4 hours of HW then I'll listen to 4 hours of music.

I have a sound system at work that I usually plug into, so it's at least 8 hours on those days. Other days I'd say it's between 5.5-6.5.

I listen in the car on the way to work, all day at work and on the the way home, so I guess like 9 hours or so?  Then on the mornings when I go to the gym you can tack on another hour.  This is during the week though.  On the weekends it varies a lot more but in general it's much, much less.

It's the first option for me now. Twenty years ago it was six hours plus each day. My wife doesn't really enjoy my music and I've never been one to walk around with a discman, walkman or ipod. the line of work I'm in doesn't allow me to listen to music while I'm working either.

I do not listen to much music at all, unfortunately. My ride to work is 5 miles, so it takes less than 10 minutes to get there. I try and hit the treadmill each night, so that gives me 20-30 minutes.
On my day off, I can squeeze in a bit more. I usually have a couple of DVDs running too, so I can at least watch a little here and there.

for about 11 years, I probably put on 5-7 hours a day doing data entry, save for when I listened to podcasts and Talk radio.

The last 2+ years, my actually music listening has gone down, and my required focus gone up with my work (analyzing medical bills), so i have likely been able to get in around 3 hours a day, and more Talk Radio given that is easier to do as background listening.
