I'm very excited to see them live now. I hoping they do a european leg next year. I heard that Nathan East is leaving in order to have time for other projects so they will bring in the original Toto bassist David Hungate. Now with Simon gone and Keith in it should be an interesting Toto line-up to watch. Can't wait!

I figured Nathan so is it official about Hungate?

I also didn't know about Simon as well but Keith Carlock is incredible so I'm interested in this line up as well!

I read on Luke's site that Hungate is back for the USA leg of the summer tour.

Yea maybe it's only for the US leg sadly. We'll see, would have been fun seeing him with Toto as it's his last time before he retire from the music biz.

On another note, have anyone else thought about the fact that Toto always do a very good job when they do medleys live? Love the change to Goodbye Elenore in the intro medley and the slightly faster tempo, such a delicate but important thing.

The first medley in Live in Amsterdam is one of my favourites though.

Yeah that 25th anniversary medley is killer.  I haven't watched that in a while.  I need a weekend off dammit!  My social life is killing my music viewing! :lol

Yeah they really nail down those medley's.
Child's Anthem is one of my fave songs, I wish they'd do a full version.

I wouldn't call Steve Lukather underated given he's been a giant session guitarists for decades but he sure knows how to put down some really tasty leads. Like this one in I'll Be Over You:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBhNtmbiDUU#t=3m55s

The notes he chooses in the begin is just so damn tasty. I'm not a guitarist but the way he bangs the guitar at 4:18 to give a certain note a vibrato or something is pretty slick.

Steve Lukather has absolutely phenomenal phrasing and one of the best vibratos. And he can shred too. If you want tasty melodic solos, there's no one better out there.

He and Neal Schon have very comparable styles. I've always thought of Lukather as a decent singer, as well.

I'd be reluctant to say he's underrated as a guitarist, though. He's just not a household name. Those who have followed him
over his many years in the business would rate him quite highly, I believe.

Yea i'm not really sure why I even used the word underrated because he's far from it.

"Underappreciated" maybe?  Those who know who he is usually know how great he is, but for how great he is, he's not very well known, if that makes any sense.  So not really underrated so much as just not being well known, considering how awesome he is.

It might be to do with him being associated with Toto.
People know the big hits and nothing else, it would be easy not to know about Luke and how good a musician he is.

If your a guitarist or a serious fan of guitar players, then I reckon most would know and respect Luke as being up there with the best in the business.

Yea you guys said it better what I was going for. He's famous in Toto but if you ain't familiar with the members in Toto you probably won't know him as the studio session legend he is.

I love both guitarists because of their usually understated and melodic styles. I really like Lukather's vocals too, and Kingdom of Desire is one of my favourite Toto albums.

Looking forward to this - Joseph Williams is sounding better than ever live.  I just hope they give it some balls - I'm all for  plenty of soft stuff too but I hope they keep at least some of the edge they developed on albums like Mindfields and Falling In Between.

Seems to be a very personal album to the band so I only hope that the album is interesting for anyone not involved in the recording process if you know what I mean. The teaser sounds promising though so i'm hopeful.

The title track of Falling Inbetween was great, as was Bottom Of Your Soul, but this album sounds a bit more consistently what I like in melodic rock, rather than some of the weirder stuff.

Title track and Bottom of Your Soul are the best of Falling in Between for sure! But the album as a whole was a big step down from Mindfields.

Like i said, can't wait for XIV!

Toto collab with Skrillex! Yep it's reality and were talking Africa remix. Could be a giant re-birth for Toto if that remix becomes a hit. Could of course also pass by like a molden fart and no one notice it.

It will probably be unrecognizable crap once Skrillex is through with it. I'm not sure there's much overlap of their target audiences, but hopefully it gives Toto a bit of additional exposure.
