Awe man. :-[  I new it was a bit all lover the place but oh well.  I like taking chances.

Well, onto the ballads.  This is a tough one since Chad grew up in the same era and knows many, many ballads that I do So I think I will not go the 80's style route.  BTW Chad may favorite ballad of all time is from Foreigner but it's from a comeback album in the 90's.

Now to narrow it down on what to send.   Oh and Inb4 Nem sends 2 Minutes Till Midnight for her ballad.

I'm with you, I'm going way outside the 80's box for my ballad.

I was really like  :| when I first heard it, but it grew on me.  The 2nd half was really good, but couldn't make up for what I didn't like in the first half.

Which Foreigner track?  I was never really deep into Foreigner's catalog - just the common classic rock radio hits.

I wear my 80's heart on my sleeve.  It is no surprise that you guessed it to be mine before even checking.  :lol  Even better?  That was released in 2009.

Glad you liked ARP Chad, killer melodic rock.

I am actually disappointed I didn't send Blessed By A Broken Heart since it's one album I've been flogging a lot lately.  Shut Up And Rock is by far the best song on the album and one of my fav songs of 2012.  I'm kicking myself that I didn't send that one.

Good round.  Will send round 2 tonight hopfully.  I think I'm gonna send something a little different than your average 80's ballad.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Fair enough then.... :justjen

Listening through some stuff now, there is so much I could choose from, and I'm doubting my initial choice.  This is hard, I love my ballads too and I believe I have many that you are unfamiliar with Chad.   :mehlin

I prefer not to give too many specific clues, lest people try to find a song that sounds the same as my examples.  I sent this in Nem's Ballad round:

Hardline - In the Hands of Time.  https://grooveshark.com/s/In+The+Hands+Of+Time/2gBCq3?src=5

Defining "ballad" isn't something I really know how to give a clear definition on.  If it's a ballad to you, I'm sure there's some validity to it.

Ballad really is a very wide term.  Many different aspects could calidate a song as being a ballad.

I was all happy with my 4 until I realized you had to be a bass ackwards Canadian and use inverse scoring and throw everyone off, a failure even Nick avoided.

You're probably not going to like my next submission but I don't really care because it will only serve to expose your lack of musical taste.  I picked a band that released an album this year I'm absolutely loving to death; but I'm going with an earlier song because of the wuss theme.

Nem, if he ranks it low, I expect you to withhold flirting and complements from jingle.

To be fair, the scoring system was made pretty clear in Jingle's OP.

WHOA  :rollin :rollin :rollin

seriously guys... I kid you not... I was gonna ask whether we can go with our own ballad definition....  :lol

I've got this song, which has always been a ballad to my ears, and I was so sure that I was sending it for the ballad round.... I gave it another listen yesterday before I send and went... "oh, Chad might not consider this to be a ballad"...

but you know the 'feel' of the song is downright balladish.....

Honestly, my ballad is pretty far outside the traditional box to, but I went with a definition I found that stated that a ballad is "prose set to music", which leaves a shitload of wiggle room.

And sent.

To be fair, the scoring system was made pretty clear in Jingle's OP.

I'll grant the OP was long-winded.  BUT, it was reminded again in the opening paragraph of the ranking post.

Paying attention - you suck at it.  :rollin

Sounds like this will be an interesting round. For Mason's benefit, I will reiterate something from the OP - I want a good song first and foremost. If it fits the theme perfectly, but sucks, then the bottom line is it sucks. Song quality is paramount. But do try to at least aim for the stated theme.

I was all happy with my 4 until I realized you had to be a bass ackwards Canadian and use inverse scoring and throw everyone off, a failure even Nick avoided.

The Dictator "Doc, do you like apples?"
The Quack "Sure, why"
The Dictator "Because Nick's song was better than yours, and he's not even playing. How do you like THEM apples?"

Just demonstrating yours was the grander nick-fail this round.

You're probably not going to like my next submission but I don't really care because it will only serve to expose your lack of musical taste.  I picked a band that released an album this year I'm absolutely loving to death; but I'm going with an earlier song because of the wuss theme.
