Thank you, and your mention of 'good morning' reminds me that, while I should either be in bed sleeping or doing homework, I am, in fact, doing neither. And, no, I don't do my homework in bed.

If you start seeing all us Europeans posting "Good morning" in the chat thread, you know it's time to go to bed.

Indeed.  Unfortunately, this is when I get most of my school work done.

Tourniquet

Nice...

I know.  I don't see their name much around here, though, which is a little surprising.  Their brand of progressive/thrash/metal would seemingly appeal to many on these boards.   And any fan of drumming simply MUST hear Kirkpatrick.  Maybe they'll eventually release a new album; it's been awhile since 2003.

Did you say prog, metal, thrash and great drumming? Which band is this?

Tourniquet.  The thrash part varies a bit based on time period, but prog/metal/thrash is their self-designation on their myspace music page (https://www.myspace.com/tourniquetrocks - check out Viento Borrascoso).  Ted Kirkpatrick, the drummer, is AMAZING!!!  Plus, he also writes 90% of ALL their music, guitar and everything.

I saw them once back around 2000 in this little Christian club in Jacksonville, FL called the Murray Hill Theater.  They were great.  Also, if you have them in your basement, could you release them long enough to at least record a new album?  Please?  It's been too long!

Hello everyone, I joined DTF about a week ago and thought it was about time I introduced myself! To put it briefly: I’m seventeen years old, living in the UK, in my last year of school and going to be studying medicine next year. I first listened to Dream Theater when I was about eleven and my brother told me to listen to Six Degrees. I absolutely loved it but it’s only fairly recently that I’ve really begun to appreciate their music. Now I’m trying to expand my musical taste a bit; I’m already a fan of Ayreon, Symphony X and Pain of Salvation (although I’ve only listened to BE and The Perfect Element) and I’ve just started listening to Porcupine Tree (only heard a few songs but I’m already blown away by them). Unfortunately none of my friends share my taste in music and seem to get tired of all my DT ramblings, so I guess this is the place for me   :D

Welcome Silver Tears.  A great song by a folk singer, Ari Hest wrote a great song titled Aberdeen.  It's about yearing to leave the farm town and look for adventure.

There's another guy from Aberdeen on here but he lives in Edinburgh right now. He comes home during the uni holidays though.

Hopefully I'll be living in Edinburgh next year. Though I have to admit, Aberdeen gets some cool points for having a few people with good taste in music  :metal

Yeah. I planned to go to Heriot Watt originally but I fucked up my exams by doing no work and ended up in RGU :lol.

I like the uni though. The one year work placement (which I'm on right now) is awesome.

Haha I'm still waiting to hear from Edinburgh, I've been accepted for Aberdeen but I'm kind of keen to move...

My brother's just like you, he's at RGU now as well doing computing. He seems to like it there, works part time with the company that he did his work placement with.
