Welcome. Please don't listen to Zeltar or 73109 if they ask you to do anything. :tup
WOO! DOES THIS MEAN I DON'T FAIL?!

Welcome dude, I am the main admin, and I welcome you to my forums.
You most definitely still fail.

Welcome Brandon.  You seem like a mature teenager.  Keep up the good work.   :tup

1. Hello there young sir!  Welcome to the forums, please enjoy your stay, and don't be a stranger!
2. Yes, your grammar, sentence structure, and all that that entails are very impressive, especially for someone of your age (not that I mean to imply anything, but you appear to be ahead of where most kids your age are in terms of written language).  I'm a writer, so reading posts like yours pleases me to no end.
3. @ Gwii: Yeah, I'm really disappointed that nobody uses it for its intended purpose.  I guess we can let it die though if no one's gonna introduce themselves there.

Very nice first post. Welcome to DTF. Just try not to accidentally too many whole threads.

Note the second sentence. I just didn't understand why there was no verb. Left me hangin'.

Hey, guys. I just wanted y'all to know that I decided to join the Dream Theater forums. I'm happy to be here and I hope to be a regular member here. I'll go ahead and let y'all know a little bit about myself.

My name is Brandon, as you can probably quickly deduce. I'm fifteen years old (very soon to be sixteen) and I've been a Dream Theater fan for a little over a year. It all started with a conversation about metal with my friend, Jason. I started talking about how I wished that there was a band that fused my favorite music styles; id est, prog-rock, prog-metal, jazz fusion, and elements of classical symphony. He proceeded to ask me if I knew of the band 'Dream Theater.' I, at the time, hadn't heard of them, but I was very interested after I heard their song 'A Change of Seasons.' To say the least, I was more than impressed at their technical and artistic abilities.

I won't lie to you; James' voice takes some getting used to, but now it's hard to imagine the band without him. It takes a certain type of person to truly appreciate his talent, which I believe is safe to label 'brilliant.' Now, I'm not so narrow-minded when it comes to metal; other favorite bands of mine include Pantera, Megadeth, Queensrÿche, Symphony X, Muse, All That Remains, Nightwish, Porcupine Tree, Yngwie Malmsteen, Rush, Yes, Pink Floyd, Soundgarden, and Judas Priest, just to name the most influential.

I'm truly the geek of all of my friends. My interests lie mainly around software development, computer engineering, graphic art, web development, classical literature, fantasy novels, linguistics, gaming, et cetera, et cetera.

I really hope to share my thoughts and ideas with everyone here.

Thanks.
-Brandon

No way you're fifteen. The grammatical skills found at that age are the polar opposites of correct spelling and good grammar. I agree with emin, :itsatrap:

Hey everyone, I'm Arran. This is the first time I've been to this forum, and I decided to join.

In terms of music, I listen mainly to progressive metal. I listen to Opeth, Between The Buried And Me, Porcupine Tree, and Dream Theater. These bands are also my main influences. I play guitar, and I play an Ibanez RG, although I would really like a Caparison Horus Scarab :) Lovely guitars.

Anyway, I hope to enjoy my time here, as none of my friends in the real world like Dream Theater or progressive metal in any form xD

See y'all around

Arran.

Hi Everyone

My name is Julie and I am from Melbourne, Australia.
I am in my early 30's and have been a fan of Dream Theater for about five years or so now.
I joined the boards when I was trying to offload a ticket for the upcoming concert in Melbourne.

I am a huge Steve Vai fan as well as Joe Satriani. I can safely say there are a lot of Dream Theater fans on the Vai.com messageboards, this intrigued me enough to start my collection with Train of Thought and since then have been buying each album as it is released.
There is still a lot of their older albums that I do not have.
I purchased Lifting Shadows and plan on getting it signed at The Melbourne Meet and Greet, it is a great read for any fan, so I recommend everyone buys the updated editions.
I went to the Mebourne concert January 08 at Festival Hall. It was a great show, but most of all I remember it was so hot, it was a 30+ degree day, I barely saw Jordan or John Myung as being vertically challenged has its disadvantages.
So for the two upcoming Mebourne shows I am front row in the Lounge. (I can't wait!)
My favourite band is still Aerosmith, I am still waiting for them to tour OZ! Pink Floyd is a close second.
