Hi Guys!

My name is Arjen and I'm just new to the forums. I'll tell a couple of things that might be relevent to know about me ;)

I'm from the Netherlands and currently in college. The music I listen to is mostly rock and punk, though I'm pretty open minded when it comes to music. I've been playing keyboards and piano for about 10 years now, I'm currently in a band in which I play hammonds (YAY hammonds! :P) (obvious influances of deep purple, but also aspects of more modern rock like foo fighters). I also like to improvise on the piano and make up my own pieces.

I remember a guitarist from high school sending me a link of metropolis played live. I didn't even like it that much at first, but the music was interesting (it was especially the skill of the musicians that appealed to me). I think that being a musician myself is one of the main reasons why I like dream theater. I basically forced my self to listen to it and in the past years and I'm still liking it more and more. Dream theater is one of the few bands that a song gets better after 100 times of hearing it, you'll get used to the weird team signatures and appriciate all the amazing musical stuff they are playing. It's also weird in a way, because some songs you didn't like before can suddenly "click" after a couple of listens. I remember this happening to a change of seasons this summer, I used to switch to the next song at 1:28 minutes in the song, but I actually love the song now.

Anyway, I've become somewhat of a dream theater fan and  I've been reading the forums for about 2 months no, so I figured it's about time that I'd join as well!

ps. My favourite DT song is hell's kitchen, the last minute of the song is simply genius. I'm not a drummer at all, but every time I hear those brilliant time signatures it just forces me to drum along on the table ;)

Welcome to the new guys and girls!  ;D

Even though I've been member on this site and the old DTF-forumsite before the split I haven't properly introduced myself, until now that will say  ;)

Im a single guy, living in Karlstad, Sweden, in my own little flat. On the nights I work as a "paper-boy" (dunno if thats the right word, delivering morning newspapers anyway) and on the days I study, train, play games, watch movies and other stuff. I first heard of Dream Theater recommended by a friend sometime around 2003 (IIRC) and watched/listened to LSFNY, Budokan, and their new album of the time Train of Thought, since then I have been hooked and gone to everyone of their concerts when they've visited Sweden, 2005, 2007, 2009 and the next time 2012.

Ive played piano for some years, but quit some time ago and have mounted it down and now its in the cellar :). The sports I love to train is canoeing, swimming and cross-country-skiing, but I also love to work out in a gym, and use the row/canoe machine. And of course I love to have a beer, wine-drink or two sometimes, but it doesn't happen that often.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum but been a DT fan for a long time. Well, I was a huge fan during the Images and Words/Awake years, then lost touch. A coworker turned me on to the new album and now I'm catching up on all I missed throughout the years.

I'm happy to be in the company of so many other fans and hope to join some discussions soon!

Well here I am, a Noob again.

Makes me feel young and fluffy, and strangely aroused.

But I digress.....I am new to DT Forums, and a pup when it comes to PROG/DT. Though I feel as though many already know 'of' me, thanks to Jay Octavarium and his ramblings. In general all things  :sadpanda: and borderline illegal are my business.

Musical tastes vary widely from Lordi to Floyd and Lifehouse. Bottom line, if it makes me tingle in the right places, I'll listen to it. I'm always up to have my mind blown with some good sh!t lyrically or acoustically or both (thus my <3 for DT).

Otherwise nothing too special about me, SoonToBeDivorced/25/WhiteFemale, with a passion for bacon, pandas, and penguins.

:heart welcome!

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Well... Hello.

As I've written, I come from Finland, from a town called Joensuu. I am 16 years old. I have been a Dream Theater-fan since december 2009 by Pull Me Under. I own all of their studio albums except Systematic Chaos, which isn't good enough.

My musical taste is mostly rock/metal. My top 10:

1.Iron Maiden
2.Megadeth
3.Dream Theater
4.Eppu Normaali
5.Queensr˙che
6.Bruce Dickinson
7.Metallica
8.Sepultura
9.Anthrax
10.Juice Leskinen

I play drums quite well, guitar mediocrily and bass a bit. I'm also a pretty good singer. I play drums in Dayfall, which is thrash/speed metal band. Our homepage -> https://vcon.arkku.net/dayfall/index.php (There are no vocals yet. Warning! No prog here.).

I'm also a bit into sports. I like to watch ice hockey, football (soccer), biathlon, skiing and figure skating (ladies).

Hello all. Was on MP's forum for about 6 years. Looking forward to this community. Rock on!!

PS - what is the size limit for avatars? The one I used on MP.com is too large for here when I tried to upload it. Thanks in advance!
