Another Italian named Marco!

Beat me to it, but that's still really cool. :tup

Hi and welcome, Marco!

The Stray Seed

Thank you guys.
Well... you can call me Marco #2 since I'm not interested in competition outside... combat  :azn: Otherwise you can go for the stray.
I'm taking my time tripping through the board, but I will soon post... somewhere. I'm pretty excited for the new DVD and
the new album as well.

Dear all,
I've been reading this forum for years, and - at last - I have decided to grab the 'pen' and see if I can give my contribution to this place.
My name is Marco, I will be 30 this year and live in Florence, Italy. I am a travel agent and an instructor of western martial arts (strange pairing, I know). I also am a singer of some sorts, even though I haven't been part of a band in years (not enough free time, but that's really something that I miss). I have been into the Dream Theater thing since 1999 and - for what I know - I was the first to realize and upload the translation of all texts of DT discography in italian language, including B-sides and alternate song versions. It is a great pleasure for me to be here, and I would like to thank you all for your posts and for your efforts in keeping this place alive and kicking through all these years.

Ciao e benvenuto!

---

Don't translate this, Zydar. I'm just badmouthing you for no good reason :zydar:

The Stray Seed

Alright, back to English now.

Angelika

Hi, I'm new here :-)

My name is Sandra, I'm from Denmark and DT is my all time favorite band!
I'm a huge Prog head rock and metal. I'm trying to form the first PROG association here in Denmark.

Besides Prog, I love classical music, Jazz and a lot of other metal-genres.

"Fun" fact: I don't know any other female DT fans :(

wasteland

Welcome to DTF Sandra! And don't be sad for that, I don't physically know any DT fan, of any gender  :lol

Thank you Wasteland! Welcome to the wasteland, where you'll find ashes, nothing but ashes... and know I have to listen to Trial Of Tears ! :D

Haha, okay I'll try not to be sad then, however, I can't understand why other girls don't fell the same about DT as I do ..

Prog Snob

Do they have danish there?  I have to pick up some danish for Belle.

Cyclopssss

Welcome, Sandra! (and if that's your pic in your avatar, I'm sure you' ll have lots of friends here)  :yarr

The Stray Seed

Society is slowly evolving in recent times, but many people are still strongly influenced by stereotypes, faithfully sticking to what others think/say they should have to like as a man or as a girl. Anyway... I could say I'm pretty lucky since in my life I've met many girls who were into DT. Last but not least, welcome on board Sandra. I'm quite new here too. Your intention of opening the first Prog association in your country is highly appreciated.

Welcome! Here, you've met your first girl DT fan *shakes hand*

?

Welcome Sandra! Although this forum has its fair share of people from the Nordic countries (myself included), I don't remember seeing any Danes here before, so it's good that there's someone representing that country as well! :)

Thanks! And you're right!
One year a go, I started a Facebook group for the danish prog people. The group started out with 6 members, and now we are more that 150 people! It's a very active group and I can't wait to get together and form the Prog association!

Hi Angelika and welcome! Nice to have a Dane here.

Thank you! :)

Onno

Welcome! Your nickname would probably not be a reference to the Anathema song Angelica, would it?

DebraKadabra

Sandra, you've met your second female DT fan *shakes hand*

Oh, and bacon is good too :godisgood:

Some for Marco too :godisgood:

The Stray Seed

...crispy nonsense. I like it.
You have to be American, Debra, I heard you're all quite fond of bacon down there.

@Sandra: then I could say you're a child born from ice and fire.

Deb... I forgot you were a Texan, or maybe didn't remember.  I r one, 2.  But I'm farther north by a couple of hours: DFW area (Dallas/Fort Worth for you foreigners).  Met Barto up here at the last DT show, which happened to be my son's first real heavy rock concert (his second overall real concert, after Paul McCartney).

ProgressiveIce

Hi everyone,

after reading in the forums for some time, I decided to join the party as well.
I became a DT fan years ago when a friend of mine sent me an MP3 of I&W. I then listened to MP3s downloaded from the internet for quite some time (shame on me). In 2011, I finally started building my collection and meanwhile it has grown fairly big - well, nothing compared to Zepp's or Franz's of course. ^^

Awesome - I forgot you were one too.  Are you a DFW native, or were you born elsewhere?  I was born in Pasadena (Stinkadena), lived in Houston for 16 years, then moved to the Austin area in 1986.  Moved to Austin proper in 1995.

EDIT:  Welcome, ProgressiveIce! :)

McKinney.... Not far from me.
I wasn't born here, but... as they say, I got here as fast as I could.  40 years have to count for something.  I consider myself a "naturalized" Texan.  But always up here in DFW.  Grew up in North Dallas.

I'm from Switzerland. To this date, I don't know any other DT fans from here and I haven't been to a DT concert (they played here about a year ago, but I wasn't able to go).

I spent a few days in Switzerland a couple of years ago. It's just a fantastic place!
