This story affects me big time;

https://au.news.yahoo.com/queensland/a/-/newshome/13594321/teen-killed-while-walking-home/

Hundreds of Logan high school students are mourning the death of a popular classmate who was killed while walking home at Eagleby, on Wednesday afternoon.

Sebastien Dodin was walking home from school with friends when he was hit by a truck.

The 15-year-old was standing at the intersection of Fryar Road and Logan Street at Eagleby when the accident happened around 3:15pm yesterday.

Only hours earlier, Sebastien and his year 10 class listened to a lecture on road safety.

"It is an issue, but kids are kids and it's a risk area," said Principal Matthew O'Hanlon.

"This is just a tragedy for a young fellow who really did have a lot going for him.

"He was popular as you can see by the outpouring of grief here today."

Students are being offered counselling and will hold a special memorial service next week to remember their talented friend, who hoped one day to serve his country.

The air cadet described by his family as cheeky and loving was keen to join the Army.

This happened two minutes away from my workplace and I have known Sebastian for about 7 years, and drive past that intersection frequently.  He has been coming to our workplace since he was about 7 and when I heard a school boy was killed 2 days ago when it happened, myself and fellow workmates brought up his name.  Mainly because one staff member just lives down the road and knew he lived that way.

We shrugged it off and said the odds are too great for it to be him.  With a school filled with very rough kids, Sebastian was the best and most respectful kid out of the lot.  This is simply not fair.  They are not sure what the situation was but there were fears that he tripped at the intersection causing the accident.

His parents are the nicest people who just loved him so much, they simply didn't deserve this at all.  I feel absolutely sick to my stomach, this is disgusting.

RIP Sebastian

Goddamn that's a f'n tragedy.  I feel for you Kade.  Life is so unfair sometimes.  I wouldn't want to have to go through any of that.  No one should have to bury their child.

Thanks Chad.  Found out today that he had right away when crossing the road and the truck just went around the corner without seeing him.  So the truck driver was at fault.  He is now in hospital in shock and suffered a heart attack.

My co-worker who lives down the road from them dropped a card that we all signed where she saw the mother and paid her respects.  Sonia (Sebastiens mum) is doing as well as can expect and is focusing on all the good the boy did in his 15 years.  Chris Seb's father is an absolute mess.  Sonia asked how I took the news which was nice that she thought of me.  They are amazing people.

The funeral is next Friday which I will be attending.  They have been donated the large PCYC hall for the funeral, they are expecting hunderds of people.

I'm really sorry to hear that wolfking  :(

So sorry Wolfie.  That is heartbreaking.

:( That is very sad. The death of a child is about the worst thing that can happen to a person. Much strength to his family and friends, and also to you wolfking.

Words are just words of course but stories like this truly touch me. I've lost a dear friend over 3 years ago. She was also very young, 20 days shy of being 17 years old. She passed away very suddenly and it was a very big shock for everyone. But of course for no one harder than for her parents. I still see them on a regular basis and it's impossible to comprehend how utterly destroyed their lives still are. Some wounds never truly heal, but the wound of losing a child never even stops bleeding.
Much love.

That's terrible mate, it is indeed impossible to image how the parents go through life after this sort of thing.
