It’s not enough that Chino Moreno is the frontman of Deftones, has the side project ††† (Crosses) with Far guitarist Shaun Lopez and once had another side project called Team Sleep. The man continues to take on more work and has formed yet another new band called Palms.

Moreno and three former members of the band Isis (Aaron Harris, Clifford Meyer and Jeff Caxide) have joined forces and are planning to release an album this year.

Harris explained that Palms began “a little over a year ago out of a desire to continue making music together after Isis ended.” He added, “Chino joined shortly after and our sound took shape from there. We’ve worked really hard on this first release and are excited for people to hear it. It’s nice to be back behind the drum kit, and with this line up.”

Moreno also let his excitement show saying, “Being a huge Isis fan I’ve always dug the moods these dudes convey with their sound. I am excited to combine my sense of creativity with theirs, and to have fun doing so.”

So now we have an album from Palms coming this year as well as a new Deftones album? Looks like Chino wants to be the hardest working man in metal…and I’m more than okay with that.

Kewl.

Chino's voice is really good but I've never really gotten into Deftones, mainly because I've never listened to a full-length. This sounds awesome, though.

I'm on the other side of the spectrum. I love Deftones, but I don't even know who Isis is. Interesting nonetheless.

ISIS's Panopticon is one of the best post-metal albums ever made.  I could listen to that on repeat while driving on the highway at night.

As for Deftones, White Pony is still my jam.

ISIS's In the Absence of Truth is the best post-metal albums ever made.

Yeah I'm also going to take a listen to ISIS as well since I'm not too familiar with them. Deftones has been my jam for a very long time though

Interesting, I'll definitely want to check this out because I never liked the vocals that Isis would have.

Palms—the highly anticipated new project from Deftones frontman Chino Moreno and ex-Isis members Aaron Harris, Jeff Caxide and Bryant Clifford Meyer—now have a release timeframe in mind for their debut offering.

The group are now shooting for a spring 2013 release via Ipecac Recordings

Quite a way to go still before this comes out :( Guess Chino will be pretty busy with the new Deftones album coming out and touring.

I fully stand behind each of the chosen songs to represent each band. Digital Bath is otherworldy and well, Threshold of Transformation also.
Not 'Down To F***', but 'Dream Theater Forums' .

This sounds awesome.  I like Chino's vocals a lot, but Deftones don't interest me musically, though I've always like this song a lot since I heard it in Dave Mirra's Freestyle BMX like a decade ago :lol

Palms – the new band featuring Deftones frontman Chino Moreno and former Isis members Aaron Harris, Clifford Meyer and Jeff Caxide – will release their debut album via Mike patton’s Ipecac label on June 24.

“Clifford, Jeff and I started Palms a little over a year ago out of a desire to continue making music together after Isis ended,” says Aaron. “Chino joined shortly after and our sound took shape from there. We’ve worked really hard on this first release and are excited for people to hear it. It’s nice to be back behind the drum kit, and with this lineup.”

“Being a huge Isis fan, I’ve always dug the moods these dudes convey with their sound,” adds Chino. “I am excited to combine my sense of creativity with theirs and to have fun doing so.”

Still a while away, but at least we have a date  :D

They also streamed one of the new demos of a song and needless to say it was amazing. Beautiful post-rock instrumentation with Chino's vocals.

There was an interview...I'm not sure exactly when, I think early 2012, in which Moreno said that Team Sleep is "very much alive" and that even though it's been some time since they made music, "that will soon change". I'm too lazy to get a link cause I'm half-asleep but they're certainly gearing up soon. I'm betting right after Palms releases.

That was okay. I'm interested in hearing more, but I guess I'm just not that big of a fan of Chino's vocals.

So I'm really liking the debut album.

Its very dreamy and soothing. And Patagonia is my favorite song on the album so far.

Yeah the album is really good. Future Warrior and Tropics are my favorites. Antarctic Handshake is absolutely glorious as well. I think the dream-type atmosphere really works and though things do seem to blend together it creates an enthralling soundscape. Definitely a good album and I'm excited to see if they take this project any further in the future.

I actually think that this album is absolutely brilliant. The production could have been better, however. To me, some stuff sounds like it never left the "demo" or pre-production stage. Chino is one of my favorite, if not favorite vocalist, but I think the production of his vocals on this album could have been better.

REALLY enjoyed the album. It's like in my top 10 of the year now. The production is quite bad though.
