So the 2nd night was the same set list but with 3 different songs?

A little disappointed that they only changed 3 songs, but maybe that's because I don't know King Crimson.

I also wonder if MP is pissed of that they played a whole LTE song....with Levin no less.

Also, I will be really disappointed if the DVD shows are the same set as these shows.

Pretty much anything farther than Slovenia is too far for me, mostly for financial reasons. I've only been out of the country once, and that was on a school trip two years ago. Save of that, haven't actually been anywhere on any vacation for the past... 8 years? *gloom cookie*

Why would the setlist for the DVD be like this one, though? Did I miss any important speculations?

i think it's safe to say he's pissed about most things DT-related. but someone already made the point that DT has played a bunch of LTE with JM in place of Levin. so whatevs

Nope actually. Just because DT gave  two night concert in the same place we tend to think what if they would do the same thing for DVD. But I think it seems unlikely. Before these concerts DT has 2 weeks to practice and add new songs to setlist. Not expect major changing but at least 5-6 songs, plus encore could be different each night.

Not bad, dude - too bad you had that tall dude to the immediate right of you.  Would've liked to have seen more panning to Petrucci's side of the stage/more panning out.

Still really cool though. :)

I watched this hoping to be wrong about Mangini, that he'd finally play the hi hat parts correctly.

Anyone over there see the super hot girl dancing front left?

Lol... yeah, I was pretty close to her.  Nice body, but she wasn't as hot up close... I think she was like a 40 year old who still thinks she's 17.

MP never played the hi hat/cymbals parts in the drum solos before the bass solo in Metropolis. Omitting parts. It happens.

Those are overdubs on the CD. Awesome that MM plays them though.

Also way to completely miss my point. I have no idea why so many of you are so defensive of MM that you have to completely dismiss my criticism at all costs.

MM is in the band now, so it's totally fine with me if he puts his stamp on the songs. I mean, MP changed parts of songs when playing live too. No worries. I say rock on Mr. Mangini!

I don't think people are "dismissing your criticisms at all costs."  I think people are just figuratively rolling their eyes at your criticisms because most of us don't care and don't understand why you can't resist the urge to bring it up constantly.

Fair enough, I guess criticisms can be brought up once and then dropped, never to be mentioned again. I assume the same rule of only mentioning things once or twice doesn't apply to praises. But I shall comply anyway. I won't mention it again, you have my word.

I didn't say you couldn't bring it up after "once or twice," and mellowdramatically exaggerating the point doesn't help.  But the reaction many have had to your criticism should indicate that most don't consider it worth discussion.  So at that point, to keep bringing it up is just distracting and annoying.

If Adami (I don't if he is or not) plays drum it's perfectly natural that it bothers him so much. But as a listener, I don't even catch the difference.  :lol

Gotta say I completely agree with Adami about the hi hat thing, it bothers me too. Mangini is a monster, but the way he plays some hi hat parts feels sterile and "stiff" and the dynamics really suffer. I wonder if a man of his abilities and musical sense just prefers it his way or if his high frequency deafness maybe contributes to the simplified patterns.

Thoughts from a newbie: I'm not at all bothered by Adami bringing it up constantly even though I'm not at all bothered by anything concerning MM's drumming. This is a forum, there's bound to be repetitions, and even more so on a band forum.

Wow, that's a freakin' unexpected setlist in the 2nd night. I mean, the changed songs. Not only two different debuts of songs in this specific tour, but THESE songs...Paradigm Shift which wasn't played forever and To Live Forever which...James nailed :D

Just to let everyone know, I was talking the the paramount manager after the show and he said both shows were video taped and given to the band. He said he wasn't sure what would be done with the recording. He did say that it was filmed in high definition and he thought it may be used for bonus footage on the upcoming bluray/DVD. Just thought I would forward the info.

While that sounds cool, I do wonder where the cameras were positioned for that.  They obviously weren't at the front of the stage or anywhere near the band so it would have all had to be from a distance.  Obviously for a bootleg it isn't a big deal, but I wouldn't be expecting quality that is consistent with an official release.  I would love to see any footage of 21st Century Schizoid Man released at some point.

As for 6:00, I do agree that the patterns don't match to original.  I prefer the originals for sure.  But I'm not overly upset about it.  Though I do find it odd that as skilled as he is and as faithful to a lot of the other old parts why he plays this one differently.

I noticed that during Paradigm Shift and Schizoid Man Mangini was wearing his reading glasses.  I can only assume he was reading some charts he had set out for these songs.  I found it odd that he wasn't wearing them for "To Live Forever" though.  Obviously it isn't as complex as the other tunes, but I would think he is intimately familiar with Schizoid Man and wouldn't need a cheat sheet.  It makes me think he has had To Live Forever well rehearsed.  So I think it being performed in Argentina for the DVD isn't a big stretch.
