Any deep or particular reason why they downgraded from a pope to a cardinal? and since we're at it, why Papa Emeritus III was shown with three different looks anyway? (classic pope outfit, bald man with glasses and younger stylish dude with face paint and longish hair?)
Bald man with glasses was Papa Emeritus II in street clothes. The long hair facepaint is Papa Emeritus III out of his pope costume.

I was thinking the same thing that the lawsuit may have to do with a Cardinal becoming the singer.

Ah ok, thanks.

It would be a pity if they had to change things up only because of a lawsuit. I get that maybe the whole "each new album there's a new pope" thing may be tiring, but hey, Kiss are still here after 40 years of wearing the same face paint. If the whole Ghost thing is having their mascot as an actual singer and the mascot is a "dark pope", to me they can as well stick to it.
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

Another one of those snippet videos had the album artwork, or at least we think. The artist that did the other albums, Zbigniew M. Bielak, posted on his instagram a snippet of "new art" he was working on that showed the crosses in lower right. Quite a departure from the past few, but still very cool.

And in case anyone is like me and wonders where the inspiration for the cover came from, as all of their other album covers are based off of some other piece of art (i.e. Opus=Salem's Lot---Infestissumam=Amadeus---Meliora=Metropolis). This one seems to be based off of a Sepultura EP

I haven't followed Ghost until seeing them open for Iron Maiden 3 times last year, and this is the first time seeing such videos and the changing of Papa.  I find it all really odd, yet kind of intriguing.  I've never been a fan of their gimmick (but found the music to be pretty solid), but this has been the first time I've been interested in kind of like, I guess you can say, the story of the band.

Kinda with Cram on this one as well.  I wasn't blown away by the act - and by the way, anyone that says "Tobias is an odd guy", well, you just have to hear his stage rap to know that; what was he talking about, "female genitalia" at the Maiden show? - but it wasn't bad, and it's sort of interesting the "theater of the mind" side of this (Bruce Dickinson's thing).

The nature of the banter has changed with each version of Papa (and even between Meliora & Popestar-era Papa), as each is a different character.  I didn't care for Popestar-era Papa, but I understand the logic in the arc towards the "crackdown" from PapaNil.

I'm a bit concerned that there could be some jumping of the shark with Ghost, now that the old Ghouls (MP in particular) aren't around to counter-balance TF.  It's interesting how much of the vibe and visuals were MP.

Regarding the Papa Emeritus character being off-limits, that is not a subject of the lawsuit, it's something that has come up in parallel, without any legal action around it, so I don't see anything that should stop him from continuing as-is.

I was thinking the other day, how much good music I've found via the Ghost family tree, it's probably a good 1/3 of what I've been listening to recently:
-Magna Cartal Cartel (MP, SS, TF, though now just MP)
-TID (MP, SS)
-Subvision (TF, SS, MP)
-The Great Discord (AH, plus Fia Kempe)
-pg.lost (MH, plus one of the guitarists from TGD)
-Dead Soul (Niels Nielsen, a.k.a. "Cowbell Ghoul", who was both their tour manager and one of their recording engineers)

Good, but the chorus sounds too familiar to me. Also I can’t believe they didn’t make the last riff a bigger part of the song.

I’m reserving judgement until it’s not a radio stream. I think it sounds really cool though. The harpsichord at the end and guitar are Spoksonat from Meliora.

Also I hope the drum solo at the start is longer.

Wow it sounds much better as a guitar riff for sure.

Rats! Music video

PREQUELLE
June 1st 2018
Tracklisting
1. Ashes

3. Faith
4. See The Light
5. Miasma
6. Dance Macabre
7. Pro Memoria

Chances are, if you thought Papa III was too showy, you aren't gonna like the cardinal judging from his dance moves in the video. The album comes out on the day of the show I'm going to in Minnesota. I wonder if something is gonna happen

The titles gives a vague idea of an historical concept album. Maybe it won't be, but I won't be too surprised if it's actually a concept.

And maybe the 17 minutes track has 10 minutes of atmospheric ambient sounds, let's hope not  :lol

The track lengths on that link are completely different from the ones I'm seeing on the iTunes page for the album, save for "Rats."

Track lengths are:
1. Ashes - 1:21
2. Rats - 4:21
3. Faith - 4:29
4. See the Light - 4:05
5. Miasma - 5:17
6. Dance Macabre - 3:39
7. Pro Memoria - 5:59
8. Witch Image - 3:30
9. Helvetesfonster - 5:55
10. Life Eternal - 3:27

So yeah, longest track is just shy of being six minutes long. Still, not bad imo! I'm excited to hear the whole album, as I'm really digging Rats so far! Reminds me a bit of old school Ozzy. :metal

There's a lot of detail if you zoom in on it. Little nuances like the boils on Cardinal Copia's face. It's all so cool. I ordered the deluxe edition of the album, so I'll get it on cassette, vinyl, and 8-track. Looking forward to looking at that album cover on a 12x12 and the big poster.

Also, we've got a female Ghoul mask now. And Cardinal Copia is also a mob boss?

Shouldn't there be five of them?

The video only has three, even...

Things seem to be pointing to this being an interim arrangement, the last day of this tour is the day the album drops, and there's been repeated stuff from TF about how the next Papa will have to ear his skull makeup.  So CC will maybe become papa IV at the 6/1 show, and look like the dud on the album cover?

Note the flaming wreckage of the Meliora album cover in the mouth of the center rat.

Does any of this even matter regarding the ghouls?  Just seems Ghost really means nothing towards the "band", but maybe I am wrong or maybe this is in reference to the lore of Ghost.

Good, but the chorus sounds too familiar to me.

The chorus reminds me of Poison by Alice Cooper. :lol Good song nevertheless and I think the dance moves are just fine. Ghost don't take themselves too seriously, which is nice.

I know it's still the honeymoon phase for me, but if that's the comparison, then Alice Cooper >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Ghost.    I'm not bagging on Ghost - they entertained me when I saw them, at least up until the biology lesson - but I just connect more with Alice, especially the Alice Cooper Band material.

So they are playing two arena shows in the US, including Barclays Center in Brooklyn.  I've got to ask, why?  They opened for Iron Maiden at Barclays last summer and the place was half empty for them, in one year, they will now be able to sell the tickets?  I'll be shocked, but good for them for trying and if they can pull it off.  Maybe if the new album is good and things work out, I'll make the trip to Brooklyn, but they are playing in NY soon for their tour and I can't say I'm too interested to drive the 1.5 hours to see it.

Definitely see the disco vibe TF was talking about. Another song that will definitely alienate some people. Never expected to see a chorus from Ghost go: "Follow me, I want to be with you all night" or "There's this feeling when you kiss me" Although, since the song is about people dying from the plague and partying in taverns, it makes sense. This song is gonna be so much fun to see live

Another one that is going to be a great one to see live. Sounds like their heaviest song
