New? They have been around for 10 years.

The first album came out in 2010. To me, that's fairly new.

Nothing Ghost had done really got me excited when I dropped the needle over the last few albums, but I was so impressed with this 2017 band this summer, that I have preordered the new live CD.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Ghost is just special for me because I caught them when they played at a dingy bar here in Minnesota back in 2011(?), and then they opened for Mastodon and Opeth a year later in a somewhat better venue then they did their own headline show at Mill City Nights and then at the same venue they opened for Mastodon/Opeth at and when they opened for Maiden at the Xcel Energy Center this past summer. So I've seen them when they were a nothing band playing for less than 300 people to playing venues that hold over 2000 and playing to a mostly full arena of 13,000 people. It's been fun to watch them grow.

Internal drama aside, they are a fun band to watch and Tobias' 2017 band was phenomenal. Hopefully he holds onto them, although may be tough since one is the drummer in AWOLnation another is the Bloodbath guitarist (I think).

I had a similar experience.  Saw Ghost in a packed club in Chicago.  Made it right up front.  Sold an extra ticket I had for more money than it was worth (only time I have ever done that and didn't charge more than 10 bucks more but money was tight at the time). It happened to be a show that Martin Persner had to sit out because of the flu.  I later talked with him about it on his last tour before he quit Ghost.

Each tour saw them play bigger and bigger venues.  One I was stuck in the last row of the balcony because the place was so packed but it ended up being amazing.

I too saw them fill larger venues as time went on. During their last tour they managed to fill a major venue over here. A group of mainstream metal fans next to me spent the whole evening screaming louder than the music and spilling beer over themselves and me.
I think I'm done with Ghost concerts.

Bumping with some info about the upcoming album, and even some song titles ('Rats', 'Dance Macabre', and 'Life Eternal').

So we'll have a disco track on the new album.

I'm wondering what Latin album title we'll have next!

I think those 'titles' are bogus/fake. They seem too cliché to be true for me.

With the exception of Dance Macabre, I agree.

Although, as someone noted over on their Reddit, a guy who has been transcribing all of the legal documents coming out of Sweden involving the band, this is the first album where it's solely Tobias heading everything, so maybe those titles are more his style :lol. Previous albums all had the input of the other members, namely Alpha and Omega. As a side note, Square Hammer was written prior to Meliora.

Tobias was considering naming the second album "The Sound of Doom to Come" according to those emails and the rest of the band was like, "Dude, that's pretty terrible" so yeah, Tobias has a weird style

Those emails are kind of funny to read. Martin had a email thread where he was talking about his disdain for cheesy merchandise and not wanting to become Slipknot, shitty music but good merch. He’s a funny guy. I think in the same one he weighs whether it’s better to fart in their mouths or step on their toes relating to merch. Or at least that’s what I remember reading.

The Sound of Doom to Come emails were funny.

“The working titles for the next album are Infestissumam and TSoDtC.”
“Management and Band: “Please not The Sound of Doom to Come!”

Things are happening in Ghost Land. They changed their social media images to all red on Friday and yesterday changed everything to black. With that change, they also announced a US tour starting in May and our first glimpse at Papa IV (I think). The shows are being billed as "An Evening With Ghost" I assume this means the album will be released in April

Interesting. I don't know what to make of it except maybe Papa Nil is that old guy from their last show and the protege is the guy on the poster.

I had read awhile back that Ghost was auditioning female backup singers for the record and tour as well, and Tobias said in the interview that they are going to be more theatrical then ever before. The tour dates seem to be in theaters as well, some bigger than they played before.

I really hope that instrumental piece at the end is on the album because they've used it a few different times in other press videos for the new cycle and it sounds really cool.

Hopefully we get a single tomorrow

Why is he 40 years older in this picture than the guy who will be performing?

In any case, I'm more interested in the Ghouls. Presumably they'll be different too, and those last masks will be hard to top.

I haven't followed Ghost until seeing them open for Iron Maiden 3 times last year, and this is the first time seeing such videos and the changing of Papa.  I find it all really odd, yet kind of intriguing.  I've never been a fan of their gimmick (but found the music to be pretty solid), but this has been the first time I've been interested in kind of like, I guess you can say, the story of the band.

Sloppy, but it's great to hear a ghoul actually sing the background vocals. I hate backing tracks.

Any deep or particular reason why they downgraded from a pope to a cardinal? and since we're at it, why Papa Emeritus III was shown with three different looks anyway? (classic pope outfit, bald man with glasses and younger stylish dude with face paint and longish hair?)

The Meet and Greet info (shown in an previous post) refers to PapaNil's "Protege", which is Cardinal Copia. I think this first leg of the Rats on the Road tour will be him as a Papa in Training with him becoming Papa IV later on.

There's a subreddit for the lawsuit that's still going on (Former Ghouls vs Tobias Forge) and it was mentioned somewhere that Tobias didn't create the Papa Emeritus character so that might have something to do with it.

Bald man with glasses was Papa Emeritus II in street clothes. The long hair facepaint is Papa Emeritus III out of his pope costume.

I was thinking the same thing that the lawsuit may have to do with a Cardinal becoming the singer.

Anyways, they did a secret acoustic show in Chicago last night and played three songs including Rats and they had an album listening party. Apparently Rats is a real solid rocker that is meant to get an arena of 80,000 people on their feet moving.

Here's a video of Cirice. Apparently the Ghouls will provide backing vocals now. I really hope they have a costume change, although this video would indicate no.

It would be a shame if this was the reason for the change. I thought Tobias just wanted to shake things up and do something different. Papa Emeritus IV would have been predictable either way, they might as well try to surprise people.
