The Official Ghost Thread v. summer 2023 US tour
« on: April 10, 2012, 09:04:45 PM »
So, this album was being recommended to me on amazon.com for quite a while, and then I received my copy from The Omega Order the day after Dark Castle posted it in his top 50.  Of the 26 albums that came in that order, this album is getting by far the most listening and enjoyment from me.  It's just so awesome.  Yeah, it's about Satan worship, but it's so over the top its more comical than scary.  Hell, I'm just as excited to see them open for Opeth as I am to see Opeth.

So, in the words of Ghost, let's praise Satan for this unholy opus of awesomeness.

I've just discovered these guys in the last couple if weeks...in preparation for seeing them open for Opeth/Mastodon tomorrow night.

I'm really excited to see them.  I'm loving the album, and the performances look like a hoot.  I too am just as excited for them as the others.

Yep, really excited to see them too. Opus is such a fun album.

Ghost is amazing. Opus Eponymous is amazing. Love the vibe throughout. Ritual is one of my favorites. Damn, the entire album is good.

And the lead singer without all the pope garb on, he looks so normal that you'd never guess he wears what he does

Glad more people are getting into this band, and they should have a new album out some time this year!!

I'm watching a live performance on youtube.  I'd link it but not sure if it's kosher, so just search "Ghost (1of2) live @ Fortarock Nijmegen 2011-07-02"

Holy FUCK is it awesome.  I now have a goal of getting my picture taken with the band, or at least the lead singer because that would be badass as all fuck.

Watch out for him in the crowd, he's said in interviews he likes to watch the other bands they tour with perform, and usually just mingle in with the crowd.

I just looked this band up since I'll be seeing them open for Opeth and Mastodon next week. I have to say, their gimmick is really, really cool. Very intriguing. I've never even heard their music, but I'm very excited to see them live. It's nice to know the opener for this show won't be the usual bullshit people don't want to sit through.

Sound wise, they are like Blue Oyster Cult in the 21st Century. In my opinion that is

I like what I've heard from these guys but I have a hard time getting over their blatant Mercyful Fate/King Diamond influence.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

I like to think of Ghost as coming from a parallel universe where Mikael Akerfeldt discovered Blue Oyster Cult instead of Camel as a young man.  :lol

Jan 2011 if you're in America.  I think he was saying it was his #2 album that he got this year.

Ah okay.  I'm kind of a crafty bastard and order my albums from Europe >:)  Thats how I got Kvelertak a year before the American Release was even announced.

If Ghost sounds like BOC, which albums (BOC) would you recommend? All I've heard is Don't Fear the Reaper.

Would it be bad form for me to tell you the identity of the singer?

I hinted at it in my first post on this thread.

It's a quite simple google search away.

I always thought that was just a rumour. After hearing a song, yeah he sounds very similar. Hmm.

Great album. :) I was never able to get into Mercyful Fate because of the vocals although the rest was good, so this band is quite nice for me.

I got into these guys a few months ago. Saw them for the first time in Toronto open for Mastodon and Opeth. Great band! I had to buy a shirt, 'cause their artwork is awesome.

Listen to the album "So Far So Noir" by Subvision. That's definitely the singer... maybe even the same band, by the sound of it.

So I did some Blue Oyster Cult research and I'm sorry but, IMO, Ghost does not sound like BOC.
