Is there a database or a website that lists the band members by name over the course of the life of the band?

It is on Wikipedia. For the Ghouls there is a hidden table titled "known former members" under the tab "identities".

Cool. Thank you.

I enjoyed their set opening for Iron Maiden a few years back, and I thought that band was fantastic. I bought the live album after that tour.

But I have never really gotten into their studio work, and the singer seems like a real douche.

That wiki list only has members up through 2016. Does anyone know who the band members were on that 2017 tour?

would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I enjoyed who ever was in the band for that IM tour, I have no idea who is in the band now, but I can say that they sounded great last week.  Not entirely sure, for me, if it matters who is in the band as long as Tobias has that group performing top notch as it seems like he has every time I've seen them.

Also, I wrote a full review of that concert in the concerts thread so I won't spam more here, but here's my video of Dance Macabre that came out very well Ghost - Dance Macabre - LIVE @ Prudential Center, Newark NJ 2/10/2022

Not bad, but definitively weird.

I'll try my best to not hear it again, the album is right around the corner (if we're all still alive by then, that's it) and I want to hear all the songs as a complete piece of work.
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

I always admire Ghost for the variety and being unafraid to do something a bit different. That being said this might be the first ghost song that's a complete miss for me.

I'll give it another chance in context of the full album though.

Now that is great stuff. Haven't been into Ghost much but that is an energetic, fun song. Reminds me of the fun that Diablo Swing Orchestra has with their songs.

I like the lyrics as well, and the music fits them pretty well. Wacky music for wacky times.

I think it would've been hilarious if the band debuted this song live.

Got my record early!!

This is definitely my second favorite Ghost record! Spillways and Griftwood are my early favorites with Darkness at the Heart of My Love and Watcher competing in there! It’s just phenomenal. I would say that Hunter’s Moon feels like it was thrown on there as an afterthought. It just doesn’t fit to me

But yeah, this is definitely my second favorite Ghost album

First listen and very disappointing.  The preview songs don't represent the sound at all (well maybe Hunter's Moon).  The rest of the album sounds completely devoid of metal, in fact there is a 80's soft rock vide throughout, midway though the album there is a song called 'Watcher in the Sky' which is maybe the worst Ghost song, mainly because it's super repetitive (think Angel and the Gambler) and it just sounds like it could be lifted from FM radio.  The last two proper songs sounded better - 'Griftfields' had horrible lyrics (something about I can be your rock baby) but the chorus was huge and catchy, and the final track although a ballad at least sounded like it had some bite too it.

After the 2 brilliant tracks from 7 Inches I thought we might get a 70's hard rock occult album, then after Sunshine and Twenties I thought we might be getting quite dark and dense..........instead we get Ghost Jovi   :-X

First listen is over, and I echo the sentiment of soupytwist. Not a lot of metal here, and more of an 80s stadium rock mixed with some musicals. We've seen it coming though, with the previous album's direction.

It's a good album for sure, just not great.

This album actually floored me on my first listen. I am stunned by how both riff-heavy and catchy it is. This is the ultimate blend of pop and metal.

The album is good, better than Prequelle (but not as good as the first three, IMO), but having three songs that are almost direct lifts from 80's songs is a bit much for me.

Listened to the new album twice this morning and I’m really not liking it so far. Kaisarion is a great opener, but nothing else on the record sticks out to me.

For me, Ghost had better be on the heavier side or the catchier side. This album fits the latter nicely. It's definitely got an 80s vibe, but I don't mind. Soupytwist's take is pretty accurate: Ghost Jovi. There's some excellent dual guitar work sprinkled throughout, so that's another bonus.

Still early, but for me it looks like they did it again. I'm enjoying this greatly.

It's very much a Ghost album, but with enough to make it a unique entry in their catalog. Hunter's Moon is probably the closest in sound to Prequelle.

As mentioned here, Kaisarion (the proper opener) has occasional happy Rush vibes (minus the initial scream, of course  ;D), then Spillways could easily be an early Bon Jovi song (perhaps with some Hold the Line thrown in for good measure). Great riff in Watcher of the Sky and cool tribute of sorts to Van Halen in Griftwood - still covered in Ghost sauce, of course...Twenties has grown on me too.

I like that they reprise the melody of the instrumental intro in the final song (which, speaking of guitar work, has some really tasty interplay and solos). Not the first time Ghost does something like this, and it works great here.

I think I liked the sound on Prequelle a little better (drums sound a tad too "dry" here), but I'm overall very happy with this.

Even at their most "metal", Ghost always sounded pretty catchy to me - but yes, I agree with both of you  :) Although I will say - I actually love their first album, while the second is my least favorite of theirs. Still good, but it doesn't grab me like the others.

I was listening closely to the last track, Respite On The Spitalfields, and the way he sings the line "One day he will come back" (3:27) seems like a nod to The Final Countdown :lol ("And maybe we'll come back").

I don't mind the cheese, but a decent chunk of the album is somewhat toothless.

Edit: I don't mind a Ghost Jovi album, but Bon Jovi was very producer-driven and sometimes resulted in grittier songs, sometimes in bubble-gum pop. I would have preferred more of the former.

Some of you may not like the no metal AOR vibe.....more for me then.

loving it loving it.  i wasn't really into ghost everyone was like Try Opus....try Meilora.  now i like the sound of those albums but for some reason what ghost was doing bored me to tears.  wasn't feeling those albums at all.

but Prequele hit me right.  this new one is right up my street

I hope there will be a time in the future when Ghost explores darker, heavier, more evil territories but for now I'm just going to be appreciative of these wonderfully catchy and pleasant tunes. Much like Prequelle and Meliora, I loved Impera right from the start, which is refreshing compared to how it's taken me a dozen listens of Marillion's new album to really get into it. "Darkness at the Heart of my Love," "Respite on the Spitalfields," and "Twenties" are currently my three favorite tracks, but I'm enjoying them all.
And like others have stated, I also preferred the live version of "Kaisarion," and was sad that we didn't get the soaring female vocals in the chorus.
My least-favorite song at the moment is probably "Watcher in the Sky," mostly because of that slooooooow and repetitive fade out at the end.
But yeah, great album!!!
