Nice, I figured that Hunter's Moon would be included as a bonus track but it's in the regular tracklist.

11. Bite Of Passage

Turn the fork, eat through the plate
The great buffet to reach a chubbier state
A bite of passage...

The final meal, to eat at home
Unlock the spoon and lay the tablecloth
A bite of passage...

That was the least impressive Ghost song (single) I’ve heard in quite a while. I liked the main riff but the song itself was rather bland upon first listen.
Is all that we see or seem, but a dream within a dream?

Hilarious.

I would die laughing if that song turned out to be an actual DT parody song.

Yeah I wasn't blown away by it, perhaps it will grow on me after repeated listens.

Felt more or less the same way after one go, although I have to say -  in typical Ghost fashion -  by the end of the song the hook had already started to seriously worm its way into my brain  ;D

7. Dominion

I'm sure there's no relation, but I find it funny that the Christian rock band Skillet just last week released an album and title track called Dominion and here comes the Satanic band Ghost with a song of the same name  :lol

Cool news to see the album is coming pretty soon though!

I am getting a strong Cirice vibe from the tempo and the riffs. The chorus is also very solid. I am looking forward to the album. To me, Prequelle was the best album of the last ten years, so we might be in for a treat once again.

Apple has the album listed as 29 minutes long. That can't possibly be right, is it? I mean, the album is also missing tracks 1 and 12, so maybe that's part of the problem. 29min for 12 songs would be ridiculous. Except for a punk band, I suppose.

After one listen, I like this a lot. Also just read:

Quote
[Papa Emeritus IV] is stated to be the first frontman to not be a part of the Emeritus bloodline, though it is heavily implied he is the bastard son of Papa Nihil and Sister Imperator.

I can't follow the lore of this band, and I still love it!

Well, for the first three albums there were Papa Emeritus I, II and III, they were all children of Papa Nihil - you might remember him from his sax solo appearence during the latest tour, he's supposed to be the head of the whole clergy thing.

Then for the fourth album they introduced Cardinal Copia, the character for the entire Prequelle tour - at the very last concert, spoilers I guess, Papa Nihil died during the sax solo and Cardinal Copia was dressed on stage by a bunch of nuns and anointed, mid-concert, as Papa Emeritus IV, so he's  the same character who got "promoted".

The whole "he's the bastard child of Papa Nihil" comes from wacky YouTube short videos that were released during the Prequelle cycle, adding some comedy moments to the lore and creating a backstory for the whole clergy thing, and yes, that was the implication.

I like the new single a lot more than Hunter's Moon. That song felt like more of the overly-poppy Seven Inches Of Satanic Panic sound whereas this is more in line with the Prequille style.

Anyway, the new song is catchy. Not Dance Macabre-catchy, not "this is gonna be their Enter Sandman" catchy, but after some listenings it grabs you.

Hunter's Moon is next in the tracklist, I wonder if this is as "commercial" the new album will get and the rest is gonna be more in the Meliora vein, or if there's another Square Hammer or Dance Macabre behind the corner....

[Clear and concise explanation...]

I was being a bit cheeky. I get the lore, it was more a comment of how bizarre it can seem, especially to someone like me who hasn't been a fan since the early stages . But I appreciate the post, it did clear up a couple details.  :)

First thing I thought of was the Overwatch from Half Life 2. Not sure what he's going for, but they look militant now, rather than oddly creepy.

I preferred menacing pope to undead televangelist. That is all.

Actually, that's not all.  It looks so odd to see a ghoul (regardless of era) playing a strat. It just seems...off.

Eh, the album is called Impera and is about rise and falls of empires, and the cover art is a giant statue of Emeritus being built (in the Aleister Crowley pose), so it's not that out of the blue that the ghouls are "militant" as you said...

Beats me!

Is it me who got it all wrong, or the very last concert of the previous tour, the one where Cardinal Copia got anointed as Papa Emeritus IV, was meant to be recorded and filmed for a future release?

If not, they'd better take the chance now with the new tour!

Tobias knows that both Iron Maiden and Metallica released live videos after the fifth album.  Therefore, I am confident that this is the tour that gets recorded.

It would have been cool to have the different versions of Papa recorded professionally live and those final show of the tour moments.  I'd buy a live album for sure if/when they make one.

Chris mentioned a live video, I just said album but was referencing a professionally released live video album.  Their visuals are pretty cool so it seems appropriate to release one at some point.
