Why are they playing Ohio three times? Do people from Sweden think Ohio is as big as Texas?

Same.  Will try to make the Prudential show and am happy with the double bill.

I want new music, damnit. I'm not interested at all in touring since I never go to gigs :P

But I understand that every band out there is itching to get back on the road now after this pandemic.

Well usually touring means new music comes with it.  Not always but given the timing since the last album, it seems likely that new music isn't too far away.

New song. Hunter’s Moon from the new Halloween movie coming out soon!

This song was rumored last year when it popped up on a Swedish recording site. I hope the new album isn’t like this. It’s catchy, but sounds a bit too poppy. It doesn’t really sound like Ghost to me.

I do like it overall.

Nice surprise this morning. I liked it, and although it is a bit poppy, it's no more poppy than some of their other songs. It totally sounds like Ghost to me and I'm just happy to have some new music from them. Prequelle is easily one of my top 10 albums of the last 3 years!

Like it v much. The pop / rock level feels great to me. I find myself tiring of stuff without any pop/strong-vocal-song sensibilities real fast these days so happy days over here.

Really hoping for a new album announcement soon.

I haven't had the opportunity to listen yet (I'm stuck at work for another hour) but I'll be giving it a spin or two tonight.

Song is just OK on first listen.  I don't mind the poppiness, but it's not connecting with me immediately.

Ghost is weird to me.  I saw them live, and really dug them.  I liked the singles from the last record a lot, and I REALLY like this song.   But for some reason I've never taken the full plunge and bought a CD or invested any time in them.   Don't know why.  It's almost as if the whole schtick is subliminally off-putting or something.  Haha.

Ohio is about the same size as England.  And while Columbus is centrally located, the other two cities border on other states (Toledo on the Michigan border, and Cincinnati on the Ohio/Kentucky/Indiana border), so are serving areas bigger than just Ohio itself.

Man, I will tell you, I was with you...but, and this is a big but, the Meloria record is a masterpiece.

I think once I made the connection between them and Kiss (which I think that record does), I was 'all-in'

If you are going to 'try,' I'd check that record out...it's pretty fantastic.

Sure it does.  This is what Ghost sounds like in 2021. :)

And I think Tobias Forge's vocal style is so distinct that almost anything he sings will have what most consider that Ghost feel.

Yep, it's really good, and Prequelle is just as good, IMO.  The first three Ghost albums are all pretty spotty if you ask me, but those last two are keepers.

I agree but I think Prequelle is better than Meloria, for my money. I tried with the first two albums back when the second album came out, as there was a real buzz around the band. It wasn't until Prequelle that I became a real fan  :metal

And here I thought that record was called Meliora.  ;)

But that record is really the bomb. Was lukewarm on their other works, but here it all fits.

Haven't listened to Prequelle enough to say if it's as good.
Must've been Kwyji sending all the wrong songs.   ;D

Stadler I'm interested to get your take when you've explored a little.  I want to chime in and say that I rank their studio albums as follows:  S/T - generally good, Infestissumam - very good, Meliora - modern masterpiece, Prequelle - modern masterpiece.  They really outdid themselves with Meliora and Prequelle and the biggest selling point of the trajectory of this band is their combination of styles, influences, and willingness to be accessible on their own terms.  The songs have engaging riffs, plentiful keyboards, and a high degree of dynamics.  They touch on all the things that are great about metal, pop, rock, and combine them in their unique way.   To me the music comes first with this band, the imagery/mythos are just added enjoyment.

Oh it's Ghost alright. And I like how it's if with each new Papa, we get a music style based on that Papa. Almost as if each Papa is the musical maestro that determines what style of music the Nameless Ghouls play.

And this is the style of the New Papa.

Ghost are seriously great at producing, melodic, nuanced rock/metal songs that also often have a message to grab onto. Forever from Prequelle is my abs favourite, touching on the transience of love and existence "Can you hear me say your name forever?" - all wrapped up in a super-fun Satanic Catholic aesthetic. Brilliant band.

My favourite song of them tends to switch between Dance Macabre and Square Hammer. But I really like the earlier stuff too like Year Zero, Body And Blood, Stand By Him, and Mummy Dust.

Album ranking?

Infestissumam
Prequelle
Meliora
Opus Eponymous

I'll go with:

Meliora
Prequelle
Opus Eponymous
Infestissumam

I enjoyed Opus quite a bit when it came out, as it kind of sounded like a darker, "metal" version of Blue Oyster Cult. Then Infestissumam was a bit of disappointment for me - still good, but didn't grab me like the debut. Meliora instead is SO good - I remember thinking this could be one of those albums with the potential to appeal to a very broad swath of metal fans (and I guess it did!). I say it as a good thing - the songwriting is fantastic on that one. Prequelle is a maybe "poppier", but almost as good as Meliora for me...Another batch of great songs (and Miasma is one of my favorite instrumentals of the past few years)

Prequelle
Meliora
Opus Eponymous
Infestissumam

Closer to right than wrong.

For me, the new song doesn't really  move the needle. It's similar to the tracks from 7 inches of satanic blood in that it sounds almost retro, but it doesn't pack the same punch. I'm hoping the album is ok though. Prequelle was a big step  in the right direction.

I am confused, Hunter's Moon does not sound any more poppy to me than the catchier tracks of their previous albums. Anyways, I like it a lot.

Loving this new single. I agree it sounds similar to 7 Inches of Satanic Panic, but it's better than both of those songs in my opinion.

New song is alright, I'll probably enjoy it more after subsequent listens. But I also tend to enjoy Ghost on an album basis, I rarely think "I want to listen to this one Ghost song..."

The tour is named Imperatour. I guess the album will be called Imperator, which sounds good to me.  :tup

Also, how about that empty space on the poster after Budapest? Perfect spot for a show in Belgrade.  ;)
