Your own personal Mount Rushmore of guitar players
« on: March 25, 2012, 10:45:16 PM »
On your own Mount Rushmore, you pick what four guitarists you would put on it, based on your personal tastes.  Mine would be these four:

Roine Stolt
Alex Lifeson
David Gilmour
John Petrucci

If enough people participate here, once we get a lot of posts, I'll add them up and see which ones get mentioned the most.  I will obviously ignore the post of anyone who cannot follow the simple rule of only listing four.

20 years I ago I would have had Yngwie on this list....

Claudio Sanchez
John Petrucci
Steve Howe
Devin Townsend

All have probably had the most influence in my musical tastes and, to a certain extent, the kind of music I try to make (on game boys :P).  Alex Lifeson was thiiiiiiiis close to replacing Devin though, and Gilmour was thiiiiiiiiiiis close to replacing Howe.

EDIT: Oh God Brian May too.

4th spot was tricky, so I ended up changing my mind on that several times.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

-Minor Mount Rushmore, the ones that didn't get the cut-
Marco Sfogli
Alex Skolnick
James Murphy
Jesper Strömblad
Edit: A day later I realized I should switch Marco Sfogli with Chuck. Sure, I LOVE Marco's playing, but for the influence he had on Death Metal plus his amazing Skills I have to put Chuck in the major Mount RUshmore.

Do you have a mount Rushmore in Canada that has 7 faces carved in stone?

I would rather just see a massive Petrucci monument erected. Has to be at least twice as big as the Spring Temple Buddha and include his signature guitar.
