Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me is the best them.

This is about the only U2 song I can stand.

I lost interest after Achtung Baby, and am basically fine only having Joshua Tree and a greatest hits disk in my collection.  But I absolutely love their work up through Joshua Tree.

Huey Lewis & the News - I Want a New Drug

This was always my favorite of his out of all of the hits from the Sports record; it's just a lot of fun, and the video echoes the feel of the song perfectly.  Huey Lewis & the News was definitely one of the artists most identified with MTV and the 80s and this song is possibly their most defining one.

The first time I heard this song was on the radio as a kid, and I thought to myself "this is a ripoff of the Ghostbusters theme!" :lolpalm:

Never had a problem with Huey Lewis.

In an unrelated note, in my dream only last night, I was singing "Power of Love" really loudly.

When I read the song, I just said to myself as I started scrolling down the page, "Ghostbusters ripoff reference in 3...2...1..."  :lol

I had no clue about the Ghostbusters ripoff until I saw the Behind the Music where Huey violated the agreement and talked about it.  I guess I had never really thought about it.

No problem with Huey Lewis at all. Good pick

And with U2, I prefer "Where the Streets Have no Name" and "Still Haven't Found..." over WOWY

I never even noticed the parallels to the Ghostbusters theme until the "controversy" afterwards.  I still don't think one is a ripoff of the other.  Also, "I Want a New Drug" is awesome while "Ghostbusters" is just silly.

I love the horn break and both guitar breaks, especially the second, longer guitar break (which is cut out of the video - boo!) which even quotes Hendrix towards the end.  Good stuff.

Huey Lewis & the News - I Want a New Drug

Great song, but I think my favorite single from that album is The Heart of Rock & Roll.  Bad Is Bad was the best of the deeper cuts.

Sports is a great album.  When I finally got it a few years ago, I was amazed.  Of the nine tracks, I knew the first seven, all from the radio and/or MTV.

Yeah, that album was all over the place back then.  Not that it was a bad thing, as it's pretty solid.

That still is set to be featured in this thread at some point, but I will say now that I was never that big on it.

Continuing the trend of artists who have a lot of songs to be featured, so they have to be featured more often than many others...

Michael Jackson - The Way You Make Me Feel

This was probably his best video from the Bad album, and the song is fairly catchy, too, but this is another one of those 80s songs I dug a lot when it was first out, but didn't age well particularly well.  So much of Thriller is still pretty badass, but most of the hits from Bad do not appeal to me at all anymore, this one included.

Thriller slays anything else anyone in the entire Jackson family has ever put out (although Rythm Nation made me REALLY like Janet before she became a major whoreslut).

Huey and his band (INCLUDING STEF! :caffeine:) are doing the national anthem at the '9ers/Packers game Saturday night.  :metal

Returning to Candlestick Park to perform the national anthem will be the iconic Bay Area rock band Huey Lewis & The News. Completing the rock, rhythm and blues of the band’s sound are founding members Johnny Colla, Bill Gibson and Sean Hopper, as well as Stef Burns and John Pierce.

True dat. Even the songs I like on Bad I have trouble listening to because of the production, I think. I don't know what it is, whether it's the vocals, or the general synth/drum sounds, but I just don't think it's held up as well as Thriller.
But I do like the song. Not one of my favourite MJ tunes, but still a good song.

Van Halen - Finish What Ya Started

This tune has always gotten a major "meh" from me. I loved a lot of the Van Hagar material, but the two big hits from OU812, this and When It's Love, never did anything for me.

Of the OU812 songs that had videos made, I always thought Feels So Good was by far the best, but it flopped as a single, and I don't think the video saw much airplay.

TBH, I can't even remember what Hagar era songs even had videos, because they were all pretty dull imo. The only cool one I remember is "Runaround", which captured that VH fun again.

I liked OU812, and saw Van Halen on that tour. Awesome show, but it did nothing to make me like Finish What You Started anymore, even if live the rock factor was turned up about 100%.

Yup, mediocre song on a mediocre album.  Van Hagar had a few songs that didn't bore me to death, but this wasn't one of the them.

My best memory of this song is that it was used as the theme to a TV show starring Eddie's then-wife, Valerie Bertinelli.  I don't remember the name of the show, but I was glad to see that Valerie was still hot.  The show sucked, though, and was cancelled.  Eddie went to rehab, they divorced, and now Valerie's a spokesperson for Weight Watchers or something.  See?  TV is bad for you.

I would hardly call Huey Lewis and the News 'iconic.'

I was a big fan of OU812 when it came out, but that interest was short lived.

What he said.  OU812 is the weakest of the four Hagar era albums.  Nothing horribly wrong with the tracks, but nothing horribly good either.
