What are your favorite live DVDs/Blu-rays?
« on: March 03, 2012, 07:03:28 PM »
I love watching concerts.  I have quite a few dvds and my blu ray collection is growing as well.  What are your favorite concerts that are on DVD/Blu Ray?

My top five:

Kamelot - One Cold Winter's Night (DVD)
Iron Maiden - Flight 666 (Blue Ray)
Dream Theater - Live at Budokan (Blu Ray)
Blind Guardian - Imaginations Through the Looking Glass (DVD)
Nightwish - End of an Era (Blu Ray)
AFI - I Heard a Voice (DVD)

Notable mentions:

Dream Theater - Score (DVD)
Avenged Sevenfold - Live at the LBC (DVD)
The Big Four - (Blu Ray)
311 - 311 Day 2004 (DVD)
Van Halen - Live Without a Net (DVD)
Metallica - S & M (DVD)
G3 - Live in Tokyo (DVD)

I have quite a few more, but these stand out to me in terms of production, song selection, and just my music taste in general.

Score by Dream Theater
Arriving Somewhere by Porcupine Tree.  (*LOVE* the visual effects and the setlist...makes it a both a better concert *and* a more interesting visual movie than Anesthetize)

Not sure which Rush one I'd choose....maybe I'll watch them all again and come back with my answer.   :yarr

The ones I can honestly say I have watched the most (relative to how long I have had them) are:

Peter Gabriel - Secret World Live
Rush - A Show of Hands (I watched the crap out of this for years when I had it on VHS)
Rush - Rush in Rio
U2 - Zoo TV: Live from Sydney

Other favorites:

Pink Floyd - Pulse
Queen - Live at Wembley '86
Dream Theater - 5 Years in a Livetime
Dave Matthews Band - The Central Park Concert
Rush - Exit...Stage Left

Iron Maiden-Live After Death was the FIRST VHS tape I ever bought, and I still love the hell out of the DVD. (Hell, is there a BAD Maiden live DVD?)
Rainbow-Live In Munich 1977
Stevie Ray Vaughn-Live At The El Mocambo
Led Zeppelin-DVD
Rush-Exit...Stage Left

Dream Theater - Score
Dream Theater - Live at Budokan
Coheed and Cambria - Neverender
Rush - Snakes & Arrows Live
Within Temptation - Black Symphony

And my personal favorite of all time:

Metallica - S&M

(Hell, is there a BAD Maiden live DVD?)
Death on the Road. The constant camera switching is dizzying and puke-inducing.

Iron Maiden - Death on the Road
This is my favorite live Maiden CD, but the quick editing on the DVD basically renders this unwatchable. It's too bad because this is the greatest filmed footage ever taken of them.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol
